Cla' 5 History In 1944 ten of the class of 56 started the1r f1rst year of h1gherlearn1ng together W were all very fond of our teacher M1ss Ewell now Mrs Haynes In the rn1dd1e of the room surrounded by g1r1s stood three boys our stud1ous Don Beman the handsome MlCk6y Howe and al1tt1e boy w1th short pants B111 W1ll.1ams They were surrounded by seven gtrls namely our bra1n Maryellen Harrtngton our blonde Fran Drtes the g1r1w1th the curls Mary Laumer our qu1et and very n1ce Kathryn Kennell our 11618 g1gg11ng Patty Wyant our qu1et art1st Donna Kame and last but not least Barb Holmes Dur1ng the second year under the d1rect1on of MISS Lander Alden Dtmham the sleepy one jotned us from Mame In our thlrd year we were Jo1ned by our mus1c student Betty Emo and also by another New Englander Grace Goodwm The last of the Howe s namely Kaky came to Jom us durmg the fourth year Charlotte Tuttle also came IDIO our class Somehow we managed to get through th1s year 1n sp1te of the Florence Roff the pretty one and Rodney Holden our great farmer Jomed us 1n our f1fth year under the d1rect1on of Mrs F1dler The S1Xlh year under the d1rect1on of MISS Henderson passed uneventfully M1ss Colhns and Mr Barnard durmg our seventh and e1ghth grades tr1ed to teach us the fundamentals of square dancmg and of holdmg class meet1ngs properly I thmk we learned the square danc1ng much better Betty Jones came to add Splflt to our class at th1s t1me Durmg our freshman year we were Jo1ned by our lovable German Dteter Kramer At the beg1nn1ng of th1s year everyone told us we were startmg over Fool s H111 If that s what tt lS hke let s hope we never get to the top In our sophomore year we had a lot of fun 1n1t1at1ng the Freshmen At the begmrung of our ,Tumor year we were Jomed by a c1ty sl1cker Allan B1dwel1 Some of the g1rls have been real gone ' ever s1nce Now we are neartng the rmddle of our Semor year and we are all pray1ng stlently that some good angel w11l have mercy on us and send us some money so we can get to New York C1ty All k1dd1ng astde 1n sptte of our many tr1a1s and tr1bulat1ons we have had a wonderful t1me together and we hope to have many more of them before th1s class of 56 comes to the part1ng of the ways O ' a - - u ' - n . e I I 1 4 . . , U . ,, .
