The Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity sponsored its fourth annual Miss Greek Pledge Contest this year in November. Leann Hudson, a freshman from Norphlet, won the title as well as the talent competition. Nineteen girls competed in the pageant and represented several different Greek organizations on campus. 10

School Spirit Chief Big Track has been a tradition at Arkansas State University since 1958. When he came into existence, students selected the name for him through a contest. The Chief rides across the south end zone when the Indians score a touchdown. This year's Chief Big Track is Todd Johnson from Corning.

. . . Contests Other contests include the more violent kind. This pertains to the ASU Indian football team and the sports contests its participates in. The Indians finished the season with a 6-5 record. We also have the dirty contests which include the Pi Kappa Alpha Little Olympics. Sororities on campus compete against each other in events such as tug-of-war, snake chain, limbo and wheelbarrow, many of which are conducted in a mud pit dug for the contest. 11
