Homecoming — A Myriad Of Activities Homecoming Week began with the moaning of posthole diggers spinning into the rock-hard ground, and before long, stakes and frames began giving form to the varied displays. By miil-week, the effects of sleepless nights could be seen in pledges faces. Classes were marked with absences, paint- smeared clothes and unshaven laces. Friday came. Last minute touches were being added before the judging began, but nature, herself, stepped into the judge s role, sending a stiff wind to muss the less sturdy displays. For those that stood un- harmed, the rains came. With the watered displays left to make it on their own. the student bod) mobbed the SGA-sponsored pep rally, onl to be met with the primitive, and sometimes em- barrassing, jokes of comedian Rodney Dan- gerfield. But the rain, the wind and other things were well worth the climax, defeating the Lamar Tech Cardinals, the denouement, dancing to the music of the Shortcuts, and finally, ending the week with the voice of B. [. Thomas still ringing as the lights in the women s clonus began flickering.
