ID IE AIM Of MEN Frequently acclaimed the most popular man on the cam- pus, Dean H. W. Hollard is known to be about the busiest. Besides serving as advisor to the various student groups, he is supervisor of the College dairy, supervisor of all chapel programs, and is an instructor. The Dean of Men is chiefly concerned with the men students of the College, and his office serves as a forum for those who have problems concerning school or private life. It is the Dean who helps to solve these problems which may seem trivial to others. As chairman of the Committee on Student Affairs and Convocations, he has general supervision of extra-curricular activities. In his office are centered, among other things, matters of student conduct. At all times he emphasizes prevention and cure rather than discipline. His advice is available to every student in the institution and to every organization which needs it. MR. H. W. HOLLARD MRS. MARY ROGERS BROWN DEAN Of WOMEN The post of Dean of Women filled by Mrs. Mary Rogers Brown is similar to that filled by the Dean of Men. To this office come students, particularly girls, who have prob- lems concerning dormitory regulations, rules for many social affairs, conduct, etc. It is the aim of Mrs. Brown at all tim.?s to aid in the development of a high degree of personal integrity for the women students. At all times, the Dean of Women, welcomes questions of any nature and does her best to work out satisfactory solutions to all problems. She tries to help students gain command over personal resources which in turn brings about discipline of mind and spirit. Mrs. Brown assumed her duties as Dean of Women with the opening of the fall term, 1937-38. She succeeeded her mother. Mrs. Nannie A. Rogers, and her sister, Mrs. Ade- laide Gafke, who had served capably for many years. With such high standards set before her, Mrs. Brown has fulfilled all her work efficiently and effectively. 1909 THIRTY YEARS OF PROGRESS 1939 21114 Page 23
