It has been our purpose, then, to make this number an excep- tional one and yet not to overstep the customs of our predecessors. In handling our material we have tried to sift the good from the bad, the grain from the chaff, and if this book falls short of your expectation we must beg your indulgence. We feel that as our efforts have been our best we can offer no alibi. C. Kays, who devotes his life to the boys and girls of Ar- kansas that they may become better, stronger, and more intellectual cit- izens, and practical home-builders and home-makers; and whose intel- lectual attainment, loyalty to high ideals, and tenacity of purpose has built an institution which will make of Arkansas a better place to live.
