In this quiet anchorage in the western Carolines, we saw a Kamikaze hurtle through the sky and smash into flames on the flight deck of the U. S. S. RANDOLPH, four thousand yards off our bow. In the hectic days between the two campaigns, we rearmed, provisioned, and topped off on fuel, and still had time for a few hours of recreation on Mog- Mog, a tiny green island in the Ulithi atoll.
