They are trained as pilots, machinist mates, radiomen, ordnance, and metal- smiths, each with a specific bit to do. Aside from the duties of aviation, they must also perform their regular shipboard duties as expected from any sailor. The pilots of this unit are also fighter pilots, having flown Spitfires over the Normandy Coast, each flying twenty or more sorties spotting for the guns of the HArkyl' as well as shooting up many targets on their own accord. The enlisted men of the unit were responsible for the perfect condition of their planes. A We are proud to be a member of this unit and also to be serving aboard the Arkansas.
