If there was an Arizona Western College football Hall of Fame, John Segretti and Ron Davis probably would be unanimous selections. Both players played instrumental roles while helping Arizona Western to the NJCAA national football championship. Because of their efforts on the gridiron both were named to several post season honors. Segretti, a 240-pound offensive guard, was a first team All- American on the NJCAA poll and was rated one of the nation's top 11 football players by the J.C.Gridwire, a California based publication. Segretti also made the AJCAA All-Conference first team and the All-Region I first team. He also was named AWC's most out- standing offensive player-the first time a Matador lineman has received such an award. Davis, a 240-pound middle linebacker, made the NJCAA first team All-America squad and was a first team selection on the J.C.Gridwire poll. He was also selected as a first-stringer on the All-Conference and All-Region teams. At the AWC awards banquet, Davis was named the Matadors' Most Inspirational Player. Seven other Matadors also received All-Conference and All- Region honors. Making both the region and the conference teams for the Mat- adors were tight end Brian Adam, running back Larry Bates. guard Bill Moody, offensive tackle John Trujillo and defensive back Reggie Pearson. Adam also drew honorable mention All-America on the Grid- wire poll as did Haynes and Bates. .--X' ' Q ' 1,11 ty. 'iff X S , QF' sr?
