It was the third time the Matadors had appeared in the El Toro. The Ray Butcher-coached squad, rated No. 3 nationally at season's end, warmed the capacity crowd that cold and windy Saturday afternoon at Kofa Memorial Stadium with some fancy scoring efforts. The Western offensive attack was centered around the running and receivin of'Ch'uck Muncie who was named the Most 8 , , Valuable Offensive player, and the clutch passing of Dennis Coleman. Don Hubbard led the defense and also garnered the Most Valuable Defensive player award. ' When the four quarters of competition were over, the day had warmed up some with the sun breaking through the clouds, and the final score read Western 28, Ellsworth 12 . 4'5 -wa ff' silk 97
