PRESIDENT President Gammage knows what progress is. His goal Has been to make ASC the biggest and best college in the west. Who knows, maybe in the nation. For an ordinary man, such a goal would hardly be taken ser- iously, but Grady Gammage is no ordinary man. Since he came to Arizona State in 1933 he has sold ASC to. the state and to young people who will be future Arizona-makers. There are nearly 5000 reasons on campus to prove he s doing his job well. After years of struggle, many of them bitter and fruitless. Dr. Gammage can see a tremendous building program pushing its way from paper to steel and concrete. The man ' s got a right to that big grin. Taking over a new job is no easy matter, but that ' s what J. E. Zimmerman did when he stepped into the new position of adminis- trative assistant to the President. The energetic former English prof lias shouldered some of the presi- dent s heavy burden and it makes the wheels roll all the smoother. Mrs. Arizona State meets Mr. State of Arizona as Mrs. State of Arizona and Dr. Arizona State stand by. The new Mrs. Gammage entered the ASCene in December and has charmed every campus heart.

Prac- tical and consci entious, these representa- tives of the taxpayers provide the working tools and financial support for the univer- sity and colleges. ASC has been on the receiving end of much beneficial aid from the Regents dur- ing the past few years. They know we ' re on the move.
