Argyle’s football cheerleading squad was comprised of six Varsity cheerleaders and five Junior-Varsity cheerleaders. Along with a wide variety of cheers at games to encourage players and boost spirit among spectators, the cheerleaders performed pom routines for half-time entertainment and planned many excellent pep rallies. The Fightin’ Oriole basketball cheerleading season saw the return of experienced girls on the Varsity Squad and many new faces on the Junior-Varsity Squad. The Varsity squad competed at a state-wide competition at the Mecca Center, Milwaukee, in December. Pep rallies, poster-making, and spirit boosting activities accompanied their cheering at games during the season. Mrs. Ruth Espenscheid, Advisor

V. The 1986-87 Varsity Basketball season went fast for me as a coach, but for the players it probably seemed very long, as the losses out numbered the victories by a wide margin. As the coach, I saw great things happen that set examples for the underclassmen who will be members of the varsity basketball teams in future years to come. The four graduating team members, Dave, Tim, Jamie, and Curt, will be remembered for helping get the basketball program started in a better direction. The student body, faculty, parents, and other fans were super in support all season long. With all this in perspective, great things will come about in the boys’ basketball program here at AHS. Coach Roger Godfrey
