SCIENCE Science today plays an ever increasing part in our lives. New medicines are discovered, rockets and missiles are shot into space and radioactive isotopes are used. These all are advances being made in Science. The student of today is urged to take more science courses than ever before. Here at Argyle High General Science, Biology, Chemistry and Physics are offered. With the aid of several National Science Foundation scholarships Mr. Arnot has been able to acquire an up-to-date background in Biology and Chemistry. He has introduced new equipment to our classes and has taught us much about the effects of radiation upon mankind. The above picture shows Mr. Arnot showing Kenneth Daly and Ronnie Waage the correct use of a new microscope during a General Science class. MATHEMATICS Algebra, Geometry, Advanced Math and Trigonometry are the courses offered by our Mathematics department. Math has become one of the more important subjects in Argyle High School because in the space age it is becoming necessary to have a good background in mathematics to secure a professional position. The classes offered in Math at Argyle fulfill any college requirements. In the picture Hope Lofgren of the sophomore Geometry class is illustrating the procedure of bisecting an angle while Margaret Kuhnke, Mr. Young and the rest of the class look on. 22
