666012 On the f1rst day of September mneteen hundred and f1fty two 39 audac1ous Seamen dr1fted on the Sh1p of 56 for a four year cru1se of Argyle Hlgh Before we got our moorlngs we were 1n1t1ated 1nto the ranks by the Th1rd Class Petty Off1cers the Sophomores Thls f1rst year we also made a float entltled New Glarus Cannot Catch Up To Argyle Our ranks were decreased by one when M1lford Severson left the sh1p On the second year of our cru1se 1953 54 the ranks num bered 39 Thxs year be1ng Th1rd Class Petty Ofhcers we got a chance to 1n1t1ate the green seamen the Freshman Aga1n at Fall Fest1val t1me we made a float ent1t1ed We re Lay1ng for Brooklyn Our Waves were then asked to serve the chow at the Banquet for the .Tumors and Sen1ors B111 Brown came aboard th1s year from E1 Dorado MISSOUII but before the year was com pleted he had transferred to a sh1p at Mar1on Iowa Irene Schuetz and .loan M1ller left to start the1r dut1es at a Navy base located at Darhngton Jean W1nslow Jo1ned our crew when she transferred from Lena Ill1DO1S At the start of our cru1se through the thlrd year 1954 55 our ranks numbered 37 Now belng Second Class Petty Off1cers we bu11t a float called Let s Mow Em Down On February seven and e1ght of th1s year s cru1se we presented a three act comedy of the Banquet wh1ch we presented for the Senxor Class wh1le docked at Dowlmg Hall the n1ght of March 10 Castle In The Stars was the theme of our .Tumor Prom wh1ch was a very gala event Dav1d Hawley and Barbara V1nger re1gned as K1ng and Queen Marlene Ammon Jo1ned our crew 1n March transferrmg from Mont1cel1o Beg1nn1ng the fourth and f1nal year of our cru1se 1955 56 our ranks were decreased by two as Shelba Schwartz and .Terry Conway dec1ded on a d1fferent course Our crew now numbered 36 Fmrst Class Petty Off1cers Our f1rst m1ss1on aga1n th1s year was mak1ng our float Let s Na1l Em for the Homecomlng Co captams Robert Er1ckson and Bruce Pederson crowned Rosahe Dav1s as the Homecomlng Queen Early tn the year we started pr1nt1ng the school paper Best Years Worklng on Treasured Echoes dur1ng the whole year has kept us busy Lenny Penn1ston transferred from our base at Argyle to a base at Berl1n W1scons1n early 1n the year At the present t1me we have 35 F1rst Class PettyOff1cers preparmg for graduat1on from th1s our beloved Argyle H1gh School At th1s t1me we would hke to take the opportumty to thank each and everyone of you who has gulded us on th1s four year cru1se We would hke to say a specxal Thank You to our Capta1n Mr Morgan l I I O . , . . - , . . . u ,, - . . . . , - 1 . . . . The Class members of 1956 berng so successful are now enjoylng a vacatlon 1n the Hawauan Islands The f1rst brg event tak1ng place was on May 18 1966 a banquet at whrch Byron Schmrd our former Senror Class presrdent who IS now pastor at the world s largest Lutheran Church gave the lnvocatron after which dxnner was served by a very dellghtful hostess the former J1ll Hawley who rs now hostess ln a Monroe WISCODSIU hotel The menu was planned by Mlss Rosahe Davrs and M1ss LOIS Patterson Rosalre 15 Lafayette County Home Agent Lo1s IS Green County Home Agent havrng a specral 1nterest 1n 4H Club work Two mch steaks were enyoyed by everyone They were compl1ments of B111 Arn who 18 busy farmrng the Moe Estate M1lk and cream came from Boyd Hendnckson s fine datry herd on the old homestead After our dehcrous d1nner we were rnformed by Ph1l1p Kammerud 1f we had eaten too much he would take care of us Ph1l1p has Just opened a huge new funeral parlor rn Mtlwaukee and reports that busmess IS dead Mtss Nancy Johnson invited us to attend her second grand appearance of f1ght1ng bulls at the local bull arena Ole 1n Mexrco Nancy IS also a R N 1n her spare tlme The after drnner entertarnment was arranged by the former Mrss Soma Rernmann who IS now teachrng musrc at the Unrverslty of WISCODSIH Included 1n th1s entertaznment was a solo by the former M1ss Sandra Tollakson She IS currently s1ng1ng w1th Roger Brlght s Polka Jacks But on th1s occaslon she was accompan1ed by Karl Gmur s Cheese Kettle Frve who have Just f1n1shed an engagement at the Aragon 1n Chrcago We were also entertarned by Curtrs Anderson who has made a brg h1t rn Hollywood by starr1ng 1n the movre Heartbreaker FOIIOWIDQ the entertalnment we enjoyed a general GOSSID sessron Here we were very happy to learn that a new add1t1on 1S berng added to our old Alma Mater Tom Prtts who rs a professlonal br1ck layer and John Nall h1s assxstant are ID charge of the construct1on Larry Olson has d1scovered uranrum near W1ota has shown h1s success by contr1but1ng a large sum of money to hrs Alma Mater Argyle H1gh Included on the faculty of Argyle Schools are the Mxsses Ruth Ann Peterson and Marlene Ammon Bruce Pederson who IS also a teacher rs teachrng g1rls Phy Bd at Vassor college If we could be back rn our old hometown we would f1nd Douglas H runnrng the Vlnger Implement Co and selllng Oldsmobtles wh1le h1s wife, the former Barbara Vmger keeps books for hzrn along w1th keeping house Mary Lou Dammen 1S Chref telephone operator at the Argyle Telephone Company Among those who are working for Uncle Sam are Peter Alm who IS keep1ng books Dave Hawley who 1S barbering and B111 Qumn 18 servrng as a General Jean W1ns1ow IS rn the Waves because she has such an 1nterest in the Navy Those employed 1n Monroe are Sharon Bredeson who 15 head secretary for Behrrng Motors V1rg1n1a Goepfert is work1ng at the Kroger store Among those en1oyrng the famrly l1fe we f1nd the former Joyce Hawley busy carrng for her IWIDS Whlle Ralph 1S bu y bemg an englneer Karen Johnson IS employed at the Court House ln Darhngton We f1nd D1ck Vrnger ass1st1ng Warren Welnschenk rn South Amerrca leadrng an expedmon to frnd the Sun God of the Incas Jerome Tollakson who always d1d l1ke the outdoor l1fe IS now a mrllronnalre because he d1scovered a new type of mrnk After our Gossrp sesslon a snack of apple p1e and cheese was supplred by Charles Hermanson and hrs Wlfe the former Cynth1aG1erhart who are now makmg cheese in the Apple Grove Cheese Factory On our last day 1n Hawan we engaged 1n a new sport taught to us by tts or1g1nator Robert Erlckson It s a combmatxon of basketball football and baseball Now as we depart on our drfferent ways we thrnk of all the wonderful memorles we have renewed We have made plans to have another reumon IH another 10 years so Aloha unt1l then 'H 1 1 I . . . . 1 1 1 I 1 I 1 7 , 1 1 1 , 1 1 . , . 1 0 I 1 ' 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 . , . . . , 1 ,, .
