Having been out of Argyle High School for 10 years, and having in- f RGPHECY I CLASS P L f 1952 herited 65,000 from my rich uncle who died in the poor house, I decided to take a trip to London. . I left my home in New York January 3, 1962, and arriving in London in 5 hours time. Being rather tired from such a long ride, I decided to go to a hotel. Just as I stepped through the door I was promptly swept off my feet by a blonde. She gave me a startled glance as she helped me to my feet and began to apologize profusely. Noticing how red her face was I recognized Joan Eastin. She said she had to hurry to a modeling appointment but she would be back around 5 A.M.-and we could have a long chat. I noticed she was still keeping the same long hours. This d1dn't seem to hurt her job as a model as she was fast rising to the top. After havinga long chat with Joan which lasted from Z5 A.M. to 6 A.M. and ended only because she had to catch 5 hours of sleep, I learned she was not married. However, she was still stringlng Herman Smith along making him believe she might merry him. I decided that next I should visit the historical places of London Boarding a bus I immediately recognized the bus driver as the former. Joanna Peterson. She pointed out the interesting spots talking as she drove at such a terrific pace through the streets that we hardly saw a thing. When we came to the end of the trip she told me that she was married and had to support her husband Joe. It seemed he had such poor health that he would only go out at night and it seemed he rarely re- turned untilthe wee hours of the morning. As Joanna had to take another tour soon and I had to catch a Jet propelled airplane back to New York in 4 hours, I returned to my hotel. There Ibid Joanna good-by and left. Boarding my airplane, which was Jet 25, I was helped by a stewardesswho suddenly exclaimed my name. Much to my surprise I recognized Loretta Schmitz. She said she had been working for the Stockton Airline Company 5 years now and enjoyed it very much. She went on to explain she was secretly married to the co-pilot Laverne Pezley, and said being on the same plane with her husband did not make her neglect her passengers at all. But I noticed while she went to the front of the plane, one pass- enger who seemed to be suffering from air sickness, was left unattended for 2 hours before she finally returned. When we landed in New York I hailed a taxi and was surprised to see Tom Manshiem, the only boyin our senior class. He scraped the fender as he pulled away from the curb, running up on the sidewalk as he did so. He rushed down the street at a terrific rate of speed, dodging cars and barely missing pedestrians. At the same time he was telling me about his wife Beverly Horsey and their 5 children Joe, Joan, and Jack, and about where they lived in the Bronx and how happy they were. I leaned back in the seat praying that I would get safely home. Arriving home after 50 minutes of the most hectic time I had spent in my life. I said good-by to Tom, wishing him a long and prosperous life. I figured he would need some luck at the rate he drove. Then I hurried into the house before Tom took off,scrap- ing the curb and leaving a big dent in the fenders of his taxi as he did so. I really believe that my trip was worth the five thousand it cost me. It was wonderful to see my old classmates again. Vera lin Crvwsvn
