The Editors’ Message We hope you will enjoy the ’69 Highlander. To us it has been a challenging, but rewarding experience. We wish to express sincere thanks to the staff, our advisor, and faculty members for their assistance and cooperation in making this yearbook a success. Also a special thanks to Arlene Caldwell for her exceptional artwork that constitutes the divider pages. We hope this to be one of your most cherished possessions now and in the years to come. VkI e. ('SLAsncr i Editor 3cu_ Assistant Ed. Dedication For her guidance and friendship, we, the Class of 1969, sincerely dedi- cate this yearbook to our teacher and advisor, Mrs. Evelyn Zayachek. Our Principal Mr. Douglas Lamos is our new Principal this year. Prior to moving here, Mr. Lamos, a former commercial teacher, was the Assistant District Princi- pal at Tully Central School, Tully, N. Y. He says that his primary interest this year is to become acquainted with the faculty, students, and community. Mr. Lamos feels that some worthwhile projects have been accomplished at ACS during the past year. They are: the opening of our new facilities and gym, the elementary boys' basketball program, the Junior-Senior honor study hall, and the monthly calendar of events. The necessary role of a principal is a difficult one, but we know that Mr. Lamos handles the position effectively and we sincerely respect him for it. Joe, the renowned glass balancer, just dropped his first glass after a world-wide tour of famous nightclubs. He must be nervous around old friends, like Sharon B. She always did rub him the wrong way. In one comer of the Pit, we have Mary, now President of the National Sing Out Cast, leading the favorite melody, Up, Up with People. The other corner features June, modeling her latest originals by Sandy of Paris, who furthered her education in dressmaking. The beautiful mud-and- water sculpture in the center of the Pit was designed by Arlene who is now the head director of Le Louvre de Paris. Coming down the lane are Linda and Jimmy C. with their eight boys. By the looks of things their baseball team will soon be complete. It seems good to hear familiar voices; Joan’s never-ending chatter and Milt trying desperately to get a word in edgewise. Now that Bruce and Marty have finally determined who played the last game of the 1968 Sectionals, they are now arguing over another crucial issue. The inhabitants of Goose Island are here; we’re glad to see that Kathy, Jim L. and John could make it. We had a great deal of trouble trying to contact them in that isolated part of town known as the sticks. Kathy has just informed us that she was the first woman driver to win first place in the Daytona 500 in her white Roadrunner. Beep, beep! Our latest arrivals are the Bud Boys,” Randy and Guy who are now engaged in a very profitable business. It looks as though we'll be sampling some of their product later this eve- ning. Fuzzy finally got her own car last week and is now weeping hysterically as Sue just removed her back bumper with her Mighty Falcoon. But, have no fear, Dave, the welder is here. In the distance we see a cloud of dust and hear the thunder of noois; wny yes, it's Betsey and Debbie providing transportation for Sharon L. who neatly swiped six guard-rails on her way here but luckily escaped uninjured. Here comes Larry; a little late because he planned to ride with Doc who stood him up again. Larry should never depend on him. He hitched a ride with Mimi tho, who after her 20th try suc- ceeded in getting her license. She also succeeded in getting Bob's car. Close behind them is Karen who isn't looking too well. She tells us some maniac in a little blue Corvair sideswiped her and threw her head first in a ditch. Judy, die author of the censored novel, Never Go Steady Until You’re Ready, is frantically explaining to Bruce that she is ready. Tony has just dropped down from his 10 yr. round-trip to Mars. He always was scientifically inclined. Hark! Jean must be here. Her familiar joyous laugh fills the air and keeps us going strong. Still here is Jim D. whose ambition to stay alive is fulfilled to this point. We are sorry that Tom and Nancy will not be with us today. We just received a post card from Tom in the Virgin Islands stating his apology. Nancy, sent word she is sorry she can't attend be- cause she's on tour with the New York Philharmonic Orchestra. Maybe, if we survive this reunion, we’ll all meet again in 1989. M r M s. 0 r B n r i 0 n w g n e I I ROW I: L. Jarvis, B. Gillis, L. Wilson, K. Tanner, R. Pollock, P. Guzi, M. Richards, R. She is planning on attending Adirondack Community College for secretarial courses. After college, Pee, as her friends in Japan call her, hopes to begin her career as a secretary in New York City.
