MISS SANDRA WHITMAN Sandy was the winner of the DAR Good Cit- izenship Award in our school this year. RONALD BAIN Ronnie was the first National Merit Scholar ship finalist in the history of the school. MISS JEANNE NEFF MISS JOANNE NEFF Jeanne and Joanne joined us in first grade and left after their sophomore year. lando, Florida, and will graduate from Edgewater High in June. MR. ARTHUR NORTHRUP Mr. Northrup was our class advisor for three years and They now live in Or- our history teacher for four years. He now is pastor of the Raceville Methodist Church. MISS FRANCIA MUIR Francia attended ACS from third grade through eighth grade. She will graduate from Candor Central this June. RICKY COUGHLAN Ricky was with us until this year, when he transferred to Trinity-Pawling School in Pawling, N. Y. Class Prophecy The time: New Year's Eve, 1971 The place: Tinkle Toes Toni's, owned and operated by our former classmate, Toni Wheeler The occasion: First reunion of the Class of 1961 At long lastl The reunion we have all waited for. A chance to see what our classmates have been doing since graduation. As we enter the Gold Room, decorated for the occasion by Miss Carol, who is now an interior decorator in Washington, D.C., we see Tom Smith at the piano, playing his latest song, I'll Never Forget What’s Her Name. Also here to entertain us tonight is Sharon, who has come from Hollywood to sing her smash hit, Mocking Bird Hill. As we sit down for cocktails, Jim, who discovered his talent as butler during our play, serves drinks which are furnished by George, multi-millionaire of Kilmer Kasket Kompany. At the head of the table we see Ronnie, editor of PLAYBOY MAGAZINE and his most promising model, Mildred. Millie is busy talking shop with Carolyn, who has recently been chosen Miss New York State. The party is well under way when Phyllis enters with her brood of 6 children. She couldn't find a babysitter and insisted on bringing them. Hollie, now a policewoman, escorts Ellen, who is still serving time for striking a teacher. Those three famous panalists, Werner, Adolph, and Phil, of the tele- vision program Keep Talking are busy telling their classmates of celebrity life. Another celebrity, with us tonight is Gerry, who has just taped an edu- cational recording entitled How to Belch in 4 Easy Lessons. Suddenly John T. appears at the door looking very weary after a long journey. In recent years he has been head of a mission in Africa. Paul, who has also traveled a great distance to be with us tonight, enters with his skis still on. The splendid food at the banquet table has been donated by Ed, manager of the Grand Union, and Barb, who owns a bakery. Lorraine, still trying to finish that physics final, is being interrupted by the laughter of that famous comedy team, Marie and Bob Tripp. Our Mistress of Ceremonies, Betty, shouts over the disorderly crowd that it’s about twelve. Who should bounce through the doorway, but Sandy, in full attire: t-shirt, sweat pants, and sneaks. She must have mastered the trampoline. Our most prominent guests have just arrived. The reunion wouldn't be complete without the President of the U. S., John J.; his Secre- tary of Labor, Dick; and Wayne, Secretary of Health, Education, and Welfare. The clock strikes twelve and the New Year is upon us. The party has just begun. Amid the confusion it is decided to have another reunion of the Class of '61 ten years from tonight. New York Trip Looking out from the Empire State Building Lunch at 9 a.m. At 5 a.m. on Wednesday, April 13, the Junior Class left for the Majestic Theater in NYC where we saw THE MUSIC MAN starring Eddie Albert. By the time we reached the City, we were very eager to explore. Guiding us on this venture were Mr. Coolidge Copeland, Mr. Arthur Northrup, Mr. Norman Madsen, Mrs. Donald Bain, and Mrs. Koncikow- ski. As most of these pictures show, we were fascinated by the view from the Empire State Building. We had some free time in Grand Central Station where we sent a telegram and our ride in the subway is something we'll never forget - all the way from Grand Central to Yankee Stadium. Dances All join hands and circle left. They always want money I' Don't smear that ink, Gerry.’ Junior Prom Our Junior Prom, entitled Colonial Gardens,” was held on May 20, 1960. Many months of hard work and coopera- tion were spent in making our Prom a success, and we thought it was the best Prom the school had ever had. The Triads Orchestra from Glens Falls provided the music for dancing from 9 to 1. Among the teachers present were Mr. and Mrs. William LaPolt, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Tucker, Mr. and Mrs. Truman Whitman, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Rowell, Mr. Coolidge Copeland, Mr. and Mrs. Leon Lareau and Mrs. Mary Lewis. The evening left us with many fond memories of our high school days. We hope you will recall fond memories that have been spent in these hallowed halls. The years we have spent at Argyle Central have been both profitable and enjoyable, stepping stones along the pathway of life. It is said that life can be compared to clouds that go floating by us. We of the yearbook club have chosen the symbol of clouds to guide you through the pages of the 1961 yearbook. I wish to express my thanks to the yearbook club, faculty members, patrons, and administration for their sincere co-operation in making this year's High- lander a great success. A special thanks to Miss Sheldon, our club advisor, for the help and inspiration she has given us.
