Cj ass Ohfistory On September 3, 1946, forty-six children entered the first grade with Miss Mac- Collum as our teacher. Thirteen of our original class are graduating. They are: Gladys Breason, Linda Fish, Mary Ata McNeil, Ida McQuain, Beverly Reynolds, Joyce William- son, Roger Corlew, Robert Cuthbert, Jerry Gilchrist, Wray Longdaue, David McDougall, Tom Murdock, and Roger Langworthy. In the second grade we gained George McNeil and Joan Case. We lost a few students to make a total of forty-one with Miss Eilleen McWhorter as teacher. In the third grade we gained Bill Tallmadge, Aaron Loomis and Janice Tripp. Miss Mildred Bristol was our teacher. In the fourth grade we had Miss Bernice MacWhorter as teacher with forty-one pupils. We had our first money-making activity when we sold pencils. On September 6, 1950, we entered the fifth grade with Mrs. MacAuley as teacher. We didn't gain any new pupils, but we lost a few for a total of thirty-nine. We went to Lake Lauderdale for our picnic. In the sixth grade we gained Jean Montero and Bruce Miner. Mrs. Currie was our teacher with forty in our class. In September, 1952, thirty-eight pupils entered the seventh grade with Mr. Jerome as our class advisor. This year we sold paper and went on a trip to Fort Ticonderoga, New York. In the eighth grade we again had Mr. Jerome as class advisor. This year we went on two class trips; one to Albany where we visited the State Capitol, and one to Howe's Caverns. In our freshman year we gained Rose Wheeler and Cathy Fruhauf to make a total of thirty-two pupils. This year we had our first dance. Mr. Jerome was again our class advisor. In the sophomore year we gained Don Krebs. Mr. Canale was our class advisor and we sold candy at ball games to raise money for our Washington trip. Our junior year was a very busy one with Mrs. Tucker as advisor. As money-raising activities we sold magazines, had a donkey basketball game, a pancake supper, sold refreshments at the ball games and had two dances. We had great delight ordering our class rings. On May 24 we had our Junior Prom with Steve Gitto's Blue Jacks as our orchestra. Due to certain conditions, we weren't allowed to have a junior-senior picnic. Our last year finally arrived. Seniors at lastl Our senior play Books and Crooks was held March 21-22, 1958. During our spring vacation, twenty-three seniors went on the annual New York - Washington trip. Now we are leaving ACS recalling the fond memories of our school days and the happy times we had here. Glass CProphecy Date: June 23, 1968 Scene: Hart's Cafe Time: Midnight Gladys Breason, Linda Fish, and Beverly Reynolds are seated in a comer booth waiting for the arrival of the members of the class of '58. Gladys was responsible for the free entertainment of the Vagabonds, since she is now the mother of two little drummer boys. Linda has just flown in from the Boola- Boola Islands where she was urgently sent to perform first aid on the Chief-of- Staff of the Air Force whose plane had just crashed. Much to her relief, Aaron Loomis was in fine shape. Beverly is busily enjoying her ravioli which is now cooked. This was sent back to the chef the night of the Junior Prom, May 25, 1957, because it was not cooked. Our first guest arrives: It is none other than the new owner of Durkee- town; Joan Case. Her ballet students are to help out with the entertainment. There is a rpar of motors and in zooms Dave, Roger, Bob, and Wray on their motorcycles wearing black denim trousers and motorcycle boots and black leather jackets with skeletons on the back. They were judges of the Miss Rheingold Contest. On the stroke of one. Miss Fruhauf, now Mrs. McNeil, comes striding in with her mother and father-in-law. She still believes the best way to a man's heart is through his mother and daddy. Jerry Gilchrist comes rushing in still in his baseball uniform from late practice with the Glens Falls Indians. (He didn't make the Cleveland Indians). Professor Tom Murdock comes back from the test fields for our class reunion on a small slow-speed intercontinental missile that only goes 4,000 miles an hour. He had to put on his brakes in Chicago to stop in Glens Falls. He just shot off his new missile called Catnip” because he was jealous of the dog in Sputnik. Another famous figure on the test fields arrives. This is Jean Montero out on a test run of the new Army, Navy, Air Force Jeep. It crawls, it sails, it flies. Wearing a long, black robe, in comes Her Honor, Judge Tripp. She gained great fame as a lawyer by settling a dispute between the Hatfield's and the Coy's. Behind her comes Dr. Mary McNeil, who now heads the McNeil’s Animal Hospital. She recently performed an appendectomy on a French Poodle. Don Krebs comes in waving a paper which we found out later was his high school diploma. Now arrives Rose Wheeler who was just discharged from the hospital after minor explosions in her lab at the G. E. (So we are fortunate to have her with us.) Ida McQuain arrives in a 1968 Cadillac convertible with mink seatcovers and her little Mexican Chihuahua named Pedro. She is now residing in South Glens Falls with her husband who owns the Coca-Cola Company. Our next guest is Joyce Williamson who arrives with her husband the Dean of Notre Dame. Joyce has had a crush on him since she entered college, that is why she is still a freshman. Bruce Miner and Bill Tallmadge, both home on a thirty day leave from Sampson Air Force Base, arrive with their parachutes still on. Instead of pushing the landing button, they pushed the seat ejector and arrived quite by accident. Our next honored guest is the multi-millionaire of the class of 1958, Roger Corlew. He made his millions by being the champion stamp licker. He is the head of the Stamp-Lickers Club of the one and only Argyle Post Office. Our last and most honored guest arrives around the vicinity of three o’clock. This is the great George McNeil who donated some of the millions he won in the Marathon Bicycle races for this class reunion. After an illuminating evening of retelling our eventful high school years, we leave the reunion for our homes with fond memories, resolving to have a similar reunion in 1978. Gfass GM We, the Senior Class of the Argyle Central School, in this year of 1958, being in reasonably good health and of doubtfully sound mind, realizing the uncertainty of grades and the vacillating dispositions of our faculty members, do hereby make this, our last will and testament. I, Gladys Breason, leave my curly hair to Lynn Jerome. I, Joan Case, leave the ninth grade boys to the ninth grade girls. I, Roger Corlew, leave my quiet nature to Red Durkee. I, Robert Cuthbert, just leave. I, Linda Fish, leave my nickname of Chubby to Lyn Yarter. I, Catherine Fruhauf, leave my giggle to Mr. Kelly. I, Jerry Gilchrist, leave my height to Ed Colvin. I, Donald Krebs, leave my hot rod to Mr. Northrup. I, Roger Langworthy, leave my athletic ability to Harry Morehouse. 1, Wray Longdaue, leave my stubbornness to Norman Stevens. I, Aaron Loomis, leave my love for Elvis Presley to Mr. Trusselle. I, David McDougall, leave my hot Ford to the Blenders to get back to school on time for fifth period classes. I, George McNeil, leave whatever I have, if I have anything to whoever needs whatever I have and can do anything with whatever this thing is. I, Mary McNeil, wish I had something to leave but circumstances as they are I need all I’ve got and more too. I, Ida McQuain, refuse to leave my South Glens Falls friends to anyone. I, Bruce Miner, leave my seat on the football bench to Leslie Shear. I, Jean Montero, leave my athletic ability to Davine LaFoy. I, Thomas Murdock, leave my tendency to say I don't know to Jesse Williams. I, Beverly Reynolds, leave my ability to ask dumb questions to anyone dumber than I. I, William Tallmadge, leave all my worldly charms to whoever wants them. I, Janice Tripp, leave all my sisterly love to all the boys. I, Rose Wheeler, leave my ability to get along with the teachers to my brother Billy. I, Joyce Williamson, leave my ability to train boys to Kalista Nichols.
