In Recognition Mr. Alva Kimler This year the Student Council said goodbye to the most important person involved in their organization — Mr. Kimler. For 29 years he has been there to help the students. He has encouraged student leaders to do their jobs, do them right, and then do a little more. Unfortunately, he also had to be there when the students didn’t do their jobs. We'd like to thank him for all of his time and effort. He will be a tough act to follow, and we're thankful to have worked with him. Recognition

Our Exchange Student This year we welcomed Renata Chau, a foreign exchange student from Brazil, into our school. Com- ing from Rio de Janiero, a city of about 11 million people, was quite a change for her. However, the school she went to was smaller than A-O; she attend- ed a private school with about 150 students. Although she disliked school lunches (they were her least favorite part of high school), Renata liked many things about school. Homecoming, the stu- dent council, the people, and even the classes she took were some of the things she enjoyed most. She did notice some differences between her school and ours, though. The size was a major difference, and we receive more homework here at A-O. We were happy to have Renata share her year with us. She’s a sweet, funny, charming girl who affected everyone in a special way. Before she left, Renata wanted to say, “Thanks to all students and faculty for making my senior year here fun.” 4 Exchange Student
