Sizing Up the Situation Just my Size? What does “Just My Size have to do with THE PILOT or AOHS? What do you mean 'Just My Size?” Back at the beginning of the school year when we, the yearbook staff, started to plan the book, we looked for a theme that said what Argenta-Oreana is. What we found when we started looking around was that everything about our school IS just our size. We're not too big and not too small. We have lots of the same advantages and opportunities that large schools have, and we have the closeness of a small school. It was really ironic when we found out later in the school year about the proposed consolidation! When Lt. Gov. Ryan came to visit our school, we hope that we convinced him that Argenta-Oreana High School IS 'Just My Size!! TABLE OF CONTENTS Staff .... Dedication Late last summer a man who is loved by everyone at AOHS, Mr. Michael Schmitz, quit working at AOHS to take a job as Assistant Regional Superintendent of Schools for Macon County. Throughout his career in our school district Mr. Schmitz has been everything from coach to superintendent! Besides his various other titles, Mr. Schmitz has been (and still is) an AOHS superfan!! He spends many hours cheering on all of our teams, in good times and in bad. He supports all of our students and faculty in everything that they do. For example, for many years he has supported THE PILOT and its staff by buying an ad in the yearbook. He has even subjected himself to many forms of torture to ensure that his ad was unique. (This year is no exception!) Even walking down the halls with Mr. Schmitz around is an experience! Run- ning into him face to knee, you always Find him smiling and kidding. Even now he still hangs around playing basketball with some of the faculty in the wee hours of the morning and STILL Finds time to throw out a Good morning. We have all been really fortunate to have Mr. Schmitz as our friend and wish him great luck in the future. 1. Mr. Schmitz, semi-serious for once! 2. A natural Mr. Schmitz pose. 3. One of Mr. Schmitz's typical ad pictures. 4. Mr. Schmitz is a man who loves a good game of hoop anywhere! 5. Directing the student body — Mr. Schmitz, superfan! 4 Dedication
