THE ANNUAL STAFF OF ARGENTA OREANA HIGH SCHOOL PRESENT THE 41 life Mr. Ivan Brown has taught in the Argenta-Oreana High School for the past 9 years. Mr. Brown has been versatile in his teaching duties, having taught classes in biology, chemistry, health, zoo- logy physics, physical science and general math. In 1963, he started the Argenta-Oreana Chapter of Future Teachers Association. Since then, it has grown into one of the most active clubs in the school. It is al- ways promoting the teaching profession and encouraging students to enter teaching as a career. The Future Teachers Association sponsors an annual day on which the members take over the different classes at school. This gives them the opportunity to see what lies ahead for them. Mr. Brown was instrumental in setting up this program. Mr. Brown has been active in the Illinois Education Association during his years in the teaching profession. We feel Mr. Brown deserves to be honored by having the 1966 PILOT dedicated to him. MR. Whitten, Davenport The trip began with a week of tedious rehearsals in Washington ), C. Our guest director for the tour was Colonel George S. loward, director of the Air Force Band and the Washington Met- opolitan Police Band. We left for Paris on July 24 and arrived early the next morn- ng. Next we went to enchanting Monte Carlo, then the land of he Swiss Alps and hand-made clocks. While in Germany we itayed in private homes and really got to know what the people ICHOOL BAND OF AMERICA are like. In Tielt, Belgium, we were the first Americans to perform in their Folk Festival which was just like our Fourth of July in- cluding the fire- works. England was our longest stop and we got to see many places of interest. Scotland was the last stop, and then we were on our way home. All we can say is that it was a trip we'll never forget. Its many projects for 1965-66 included a clothing drive, intra murals at noon, a Christmas program on the last day before vacation, and various fund-raising projects to pay for a foreign exchange student next year.
