S. A. The doors slide open silently. Out steps MR. WILKEY, the pilot, and MR. BROWN, the co-pilot. Following them is the head stewardess, MISS GULICK. and her staff: PAULETTE WOOLLEY, SUE HALTOM, and the only pair of twin stewardesses in the world, CAROL and CHERYL COMPTON. Eagerly descending from the plane are forty-seven passengers. They fall over themselves trying to get out of that small and cramped spaceship. A meeting is held with SCOTT BRANDON in charge to formulate plans for the future. It is decided by all present that businesses should be established in order to re-populate planet Earth. Certain people are chosen as heads (arms, legs, and bodies) of the newly formed organizations. They were as follows: BOB ALLEN- School for Latin Scholars KAY ANDERSON and JOE MACKEY- Marriage Counselors LARRY BELL- President of a chain of supermarkets JOHN KRUSE, DAN BOYD, JACKIE BRYANT, and JAY EDGECOMBE- Vocal Music DAN JOHNSON, DAVE HEIM, MARILYN CUNDIFF, RALPH REED, and GARY ROLOFSON- Instrumental Music (jazz, preferably) A messenger, MIKE KING, runs swiftly into the office of SCOTT BRANDON informing him that the Russians have landed about four miles away from Centerville and have challenged the Americans to a football game in order to determine who shall rule the Earth. They felt that a football game is the most universal sport. The day of the big football game arrives. The cheerleaders who were elected for this football game are: DIANNE RAPPMAN, DIANNE WESTERMAN, ANITA WHITE, BONNIE FOSTER, and IMOGENE WHITTEN. Goodwill Ambassadors who spread good will through- out the Russian football team were: LINDA FINNEY, JANE CUMMINS, TONI BROOKS, SANDY DAVIS, and MARY CAMIC. Appointed by themselves to acquaint the Russian cheerleaders with American friendliness were: JERRY WETHINGTON, LARRY MANNING, BOB FYKE, KEN SMITH, WADE FARKAS, and RICK YETTER. On the football team were the following: DENNIS MILLS, BOB FINLEY, RON FRENCH, ED PHILLIPS, BOB RAGSDALE, BOB WELLS, TOM PASCHAL, ROGER KLUKIS, and RICHARD WIKOFF. Because of his well-known past of managing at Argenta High, BUTCH EASTER was unanimously appointed as manager of the team. After a furious first half the score was tied-nothing to nothing. At half time ELAINE SIMPSON put on a grand exhibition of majoretting. Beginning the third quarter, the boys came out with renewed spirit. But at the end of the third quarter, the score was still tied nothing to nothing. However in the fourth quarter TOM MATHES intercepted a pass and ran 88 yards down the field to make a touchdown. The only drawback was that he ran the wrong way. The referees conferred and decided to give one point for this wonderful exhibition of footballmanship. Time ran out and the final score was one to nothing. So once again the Earth is ours! ! This year's band, the first to march on our new football field, gave three half-time performances for football fans. Then, after two marching performances in Decatur, the Band retired to the indoors to entertain basketball fans. In the Spring the band attended music con- test and presented its annual band concert. MR. WILKEY Mr. Wilkey has done a great job with the band and dance band this year. He has been teaching in the Argenta Unit now for fourteen years. In the past, we have won about ten firsts at various band contests. Here's hoping the band has as much luck in the future years as in the past. DANCE R. King, R. Luckenbill, G. Brockman J. Helm, D. Sanitarium at the Decatur Macon County Hospital, and the Lions and Eagles Clubs. On January 11, the dance band played in the Millikin Stage Band Contest. They placed first in their division of the contest, thereby receiving an opportunity to perform at an evening concert. At the concert, Mr. Wilkey received a scholarship for Best Director. bon voyage On June 20 Jeanne Davenport, left, and Linda Hastings, right, will leave for Europe from New York, for a tour with the Youth Band of America.
