HISTORY In the year 1959, 46 freshmen entered Argenta High- Bob Disbrow was our ever-ready president along with Ted Elsea as vice-president; Linda McConkey, secretary-treasurer; and Judy Ferrill, reporter. We were guided under the helpful hands of Mrs. Kirby and Mr. Wolf. Our freshman class was represented in the student council by Bernice Lewis, Pat Buckley and Tom Fritts. Being an athletic class, we were represented by Bob Disbrow, Jack Wallace, Gerry Flaugher, Curt Jackson, Dan Norbits, and Ted Elsea in B team basketball. Bernice Lewis served as Varsity Cheerleader. Attending the royal court were Linda McConkey and Judy Ferrill. We were members of such organizations as: chorus, band, Latin club, newspaper, FHA and GAA. As sophomores, we chose Jack Wallace, president; Bob Disbrow, vice- president; Dennis Koch, secretary-treasurer; and Dan Norbits, reporter. Again Mrs. Kirby and Mr. Wolf were our sponsors. Student council members were Fran Boyd and Ted Elsea. The B team basketball players were Gerry Flaugher, Duane Jackson, Dan Norbits, Bob Disbrow, Curt Jackson, Jack Wallace, and Ted Elsea. Wc were represented in track by Ted Elsea and Dan Norbits. Our three baseball players were Dennis Koch, Dan Norbits, and Bob Disbrow. Bernice Lewis was again our Varsity cheerleader and Judy Ferrill was on the Junior Varsity. Linda McConkey and Judy Ferrill were our queen attendants. We were in the organizations of newspaper, Latin club, GAA, Librarians, chorus, and band. In 1961, 33 Juniors were back at Argenta - Oreana High. In command was Jack Wallace, President; Bob Disbrow, vice-president; Bernice Lewis, secretary- treasurer; and Dan Norbits, reporter. Mrs. Kirby and Mrs. Verner were our sponsors. Fran Boyd and Ted Elsea represented us in student council. The basketball team consisted of Duane Jackson, Bob Disbrow, Ted Elsea, Jack Wallace and Jim King. Junior Varsity cheerleaders were Bernice Lewis, Judy Ferrill, and Linda McConkey. Our play Aunt Phoebe was a large success with Tim Sheehan playing the lead. The annual Junior-Senior Prom was held at the YMCA in Decatur with the theme of Rendezvous of the Stars. Our senior year found Jack Wallace as president; Dennis Koch, vice- president; Phyllis Stine, secretary-treasurer; and Sally Allen, reporter. Mr. Wilkey, Miss Cahill, and Mrs. Eddy were chosen as our sponsors. Student council members were Bernice Lewis, Eennis Koch, Jack Wallace and Frances Boyd as secretary-treasurer of the council. Bernice Lewis and Linda McConkey cheered Duane Jackson and Ted Elsea to one victory in the come back of football. Attending queen Pat Buckley and king Jack Wallace were Frances Boyd, Jim King, Judy Ferrill and Tim Sheehan. Bernice Lewis and Linda McConkey cheered for Duane Jackson, Jack Wallace, Jim King, Ted Elsea, Dennis Koch, and Gerald Flaugher in Varsity basketball. Mother is a Freshman was another successful play as Linda McConkey and Tim Sheehan played the leads.
