MARCIA STILES I live for fun, and fun I have. DON LORETT I graduate with pleasure. F. F. A. 1 TOM ALLEN (Not Pictured) Frequently within my brain, I gently think a thought. History I am a class. I've been around Argenta for four years. I've been living at a place called Argenta-Oreana High School. This spring, though, I think I'll move away. Oh, don't get me wrong; I like it here very much, it's just that I have bigger plans in mind. I'd like to get out in the world, earn a little money, maybe get a little more education, or maybe even get married. I've really prospered here at A. O. H. S. Take the year 1958 for example. In 1958 I was known as freshman, or as some people called me, frosh. I had some fine leaders that year. My president was Nancy Cooper, my vice president was Delores Richard, while my secretary- treasurer was Bob Beadleston, and my reporter was Nancy Adams. Representing me in the student council were Dinah Buckley and Mike O'Brien. At homecoming that year with my queen attendants, Donna Phillips and Joan Boyd, and my basketball boys, Bill Simpson, Bruce Darnall, Jim Edwards, LeRoy Moyer, Kenny Snead, and Bob Beadleston, how could I help but win first prize for my float. In 1959 after a three-months' vacation, I came back, strong as ever, with a new name, sophomore, and new leader s: president, Mike O'Brien; vice-president, David Camfield; secretary- treasurer, Dinah Buckley; reporter, Delores Richard; and student council members, Delores Richard, Mike O'Brien, and Bob Beadleston. At homecoming I was represented in the queen's court by Delores Richard and Joan Boyd. My cheerleader s were Carol Fyke and Delores Richard. My basketball players were Bob Beadleston, Kenny Snead, LeRoy Moyer, Jim Edwards, Bruce Darnall, and Bill Simpson. In 1960 was alias was junior. My new leaders were: president. May Boyd; vice-president. Sue Stoddard; secretary-treasurer, Delores Richard; reporter, Linda Gawthorp; and student council members, Nancy Adams, Dinah Buckley, Delores Richard, Bob Beadleston, and Mike O'Brien. At homecoming Joan Boyd and Dinah Buckley served in the queen's court, while Bruce Darnall, Steve Davidson, Bob Beadleston, and LeRoy Moyer were on the basketball team. Rep- resenting the junior class in the cheerleading squad were Linda Boyd, Delores Richard, Carol Fyke, Ann Cummins, and Dana Crews, with my float winning first place again. My play in 1960, Meet Me in St. Louis, was a very big success. That spring my junior-senior prom was given at A. O. H. S. It also was a big success. In 1961 I returned to Argenta for my final attempt at making good. By that time, I had certainly earned the name, senior. My ready and able leaders were: president, Allen Scott; vice-president, Linda Boyd; secretary-treasurer, May Boyd; reporter, Linda Gawthorp; and student council member s, Nancy Adams, LeRoy Moyer, Bob Beadleston, Dinah Buckley, Delores Richard, Sue Stoddard, and Mike O'Brien. My cheerleaders were Carol Fyke, Delores Richard , Linda Boyd, and Dana Crews. My basketball boys were Bob Beadleston, Harold Booze, LeRoy Moyer, Bruce Darnall, andSteve Davidson. My senior play, Handy Man, was another success . At homecoming that year, my float won first place again. In the queen's court were Linda Gawthorp, Donna Phillips, Harold Booze, and LeRoy Moyer serving the homecoming queen and king, Dinah Buckley and Bob Beadleston. All in all, I have spent a very prosperous four years at Argenta-Oreana High School. --Jo Jensen Cktss, BOB BEADLESTON, a Northeast Mounted Policeman, is mushing his huskies over a rough Yukon trail heading for Dantown where he is to meet Commissioner HAROLD BOOZE. As he entered town, what did he see but a parade coming his way. He made eyes at DINAH BUCKLEY and NANCY ADAMS who were wearing their best parkas and leading the parade with their batons. Following were TIERNEY DAVENPORT, LOIS BUNCH and ALLEN SCOTT keeping time and doing a wonderful job on their drums. When the parade had passed, he walked on down the street where he saw SKIP ANKROM trying to sell LARRY WAKEFIELD a new carburetor for his car. He walked into the restaurant where he was to meet the commissioner, and there he saw DANA CREWS and LeROY MOYER doing the twist. He sat down and gave SHIRLEY MANNING his order for a cup of coffee. Just then the commissioner walked in with TOM ALLEN and GARY DURBIN handcuffed to him. He had caught them chewing gum in the streets. The commissioner told Bob that he was to bring in BILL WILBER dead or alive for hitting a policeman with a spit ball. Then came in Mr. Wilkey with a huge percolator in his arms. He said he'd come all the way from Argenta which was now a hustling city. As he shook the snow from his boots, a soggy, faded newspaper fell to the floor. Bob reached for it. Boy, he said. This is the fir st newspaper I've seen in over a year. Mind if I look at it ? Well, said Mr. Wilkey, it's sort of old. The date on the paper was November 14, 1971. That's al right, said Bob and he began to read. First Woman President Elected. MARY MYERS Wins by Unanimous Bribery. Bob had a puzzled look. Her friends, SHARON McVey and VICKI KUSTURIN had a lot of influence on people, explained Mr. Wilkey. Under the major heardline in smaller print, he read Miss SUSAN STODDARD, Yale English Professor Awarded. I always knew that Sue would go far, commented Bob. Also, added Mr. Wilkey, JO JENSEN is the P. E. teacher there, and LINDA BOYD, ANN CUMMINS, CAROL FYKE, and DELORES RICHARD are now famous cheerleader s. They've even won the BILL SIMPSON award for cheerleading. You did know Bill was a millionaire, didn't you? All his debating with his teachers at school has gotten him out of more messes and into more money than any other man I know. I heard KENNY SNEAD and MIKE O'BRIEN own their own automobile corporation. said Harold. Yes, said Mr. Wilkey. In fact, I just bought a small sports car from the. Got my insurance from DON LORETT, too. What happened to STEVE DAVIDSON and BRUCE DARNALL? asked Bob. '•Steve spends most ofhis time at the Dog 'n Suds, and Bruce coaches a little league basket- ball team. Just then BONNIE BROOKS, JACKIE FEAR, LINDA WESTERMAN, LOIS PHILLIPS and their husbands entered. What are you doing in this cold, bleak lace? asked Bob. We entered a contest, and the prize was a one-year vacation. answered one of the girls. ••Why don’t you join us with some coffee? asked Bob. While they were enjoying their coffee, Bob learned that KAY PHILLIPS and LOIS BUNCH have advanced from passing out newspapers to owning erne. LINDA GAWTHORP writes the editorials and JOHN KROHN is the chief typist. JANET KING still works in a grocery store. Just then the door opened and, with a huge gust of wind, JUDY PASCHAL and EUGENEA JACOBY entered. Like, hi. Civilization grew too dull for this duet, so they moved to the wilds of the north. They said the last time they saw MARCIA STILES and MARY PLAPPERT they were trying to think of a way to introduce pizza to the Eskimoes. Poor things; I hope it worked, said Judy. JIM EDWARDS had grown to love history so much that he decided to make it by skiing down Mt McKinley without skis. Everything went fine until he was about half way down the mountain. There he met CHARLIE CONWAf and GARY BRANDON who had decided to make history by scaling UP Mt. McKinley. Harold rose from his chair and went to the jukebox; he put in a nickel and made a selection. As the song began to play. Eugenea said. That voice sounds familiar Yes, BARBARA WILBER and KAREN MINGS are top stars on the Hillbilly Hit Parade, said Mr. Wilkey. DONNA STEPHENS, a bridal consultant, entered the restaurant and ordered a cup of coffee. She had just been to the wedding of NANCY COOPER. Younever saw somany people, she said. Nancy invited all the fellows she used to date, and after they were seated a lot of friends had to stand outside. Has anyone teard what has happened o JOAN BOYD and MAY BOYD? asked Bob. May is the treasurer of the National Librarians' Association. Joan has a women's apparel shop for Boyd's only, Harold and I have some business to take care of, and this isn't getting the job done, said Bob. So we'd better get to work. Sure was nice meeting all of you and catching up on the news.
