To head the class, sponsored by Miss Dekich and Mr. Shadel, we chose with certainty Hazel Boyd, Jeff McConkey, and Roger Davenport as president, vice-president, and secretary- treasurer respectively. Sandra Crowe, Hazel Boyd, and Gary Likins represented us on the Student Council. At the majestic Homecoming, Sharon Yetter and Deboiah Whisnant attended the Queen along with other attractive girls selected by the various classes. Throughout the freshman year we were reassured with self-con- fidence enabling us to face the oncoming year with a much braver outlook. In our sophomore year we assembled a naturally wiser class to elect Dennis Crowder president with Roger Davenport as vice-president and Hazel Boyd secre- tary-treasurer. Glenneth Schall, Hazel Boyd, and Gary Likins were commissioned to serve on the Student Council. At the Homecoming we were not only proud of the sophomore queen attendants, Louise Fyke and Sharon Yet ter; but we delight- fully entered the prize-winning homecoming float. Many of the organizations and social activities were numbered with indubitably responsible sophomores. At the close of the year we looked gratefully to Miss Dekich and Mr. Kimbler, our sponsors, who we unanimously agreed performed a highly commendable job of lead- ing us through our second high school year. Our Junior year proved to be even more exciting than the previous two. Our sponsors, Mrs. Verner and Miss Dekich along with class President Louise Fyke, Vice-President Sharon Yetter and Secretary-Treasurer Phyllis Fisher aided the class with their unfailing perseverance. Also we juniors took advantage of our possibilities and sent Hazel Boyd, Gary Likins, Louise Fyke, Dennis Crowder, and Nancy Richardson to Student Council on which Hazel Boyd received presidency and Gary Likins vice-presidency. Besides Student Council, the yearbook and news- paper staff, library, F.H.A., F.F.A., chorus and band organizations and sports were well represented with junior classmates. Again our Homecoming float cap- tured first prize while Barbara Krutsinger and Nancy Gronkowski attended the Queen. After hours of exasperating practice our class play Father Was A House- wife was successfully presented with Roger Davenport playing the leading role as father. Preserving the reputation of previous Junior and Senior Proms, we endeavored to combine our efforts to provide a prom at the St. Nicholas Hotel using Stork Club as our theme. Now as Seniors we have conquered nearly all the hurdles that have come our way. Our able leaders have been Miss Parks and Mr. Wilkey. The class presidency was held by Jim Masey with Roger Davenport as vice-president and Dennis Crowder as secretary-treasurer. Gary Likins was elected Student Council president with Hazel Boyd, Nancy Richardson, Bonnie Fulk, and Jeff McConkey serving as members. The class chose Sharon Yetter, Lu Ella Maglone, and Louise Fyke as queen cani- dates. King candidates were Gary Likins, Roger Davenport, and David Wakefield. As we all go our separate ways we will each take with us a cherished memory of our high school days at Argenta High School. 16 PROPHECY The year is 1968, the place is Argenta High School in the office of Mr. Wilkey. Sitting beside him is Miss Parks. They are staring at their I B N Time Machine, nervously awaiting the arrival of Zorro. They have sent a Contact Bubble into the past to call for that great hero of gay old California. Suddenly the Iklli Tube lights up and before them stands Zorro. In a rush of words, they tell him some of the members of the class of 58 are in dire distress. After a bit of briefing he begins his ride of mercy. First he goes to Manraoth Cave to rescue HAZEL BOYD, who in her nervous state of mind as a result of editing the 58 Pilot, wandered into the cave and is about to be crushed to death between a stalagmite and a stalactite. In the nick of time he crushes the monstrous icicles which they then use for some 7-Yup on the rocks. After this trying experience Hazel is in no shape to ride horseback, so they go and board a river boat. This is no ordinary river boat. Oh, No! It is Mike Finks famous boat, the River Rat-Lure. That evening as they sit down for their meal the band starts to play and look who is leading it! It is none other than ROGER DAVENPORT. As the evening wears on, they arrive in New Orleans. As they are leaving the boat, they notice a great commotion. Why, it looks like they are going to tar and feather someone! This arouses Zorro's interest so he goes to investigate and finds the victim to be FRANK DAVIS, who is being punished for creating the world’s most outlandish hair-do. After Zorro makes a quick rescue, Frank takes them to his plush night club, Davis Dumpy Dive. As they enter NANCY RIG1ARDS0N takes their hats and coats. Then as they take their seats they are shocked to see the famed torch singer, PHYLLIS FISHER. She is singing the classical Blue Flame accompanied by Sir GARY EDGECOMBE on the harp. It was out of this world! Their pleasant evening was interrupted when Nancy brings Zorro the phone. It was DORIS CHENOWETH who while cruising in her private satellite heard the news over her talky-walky that the Romeo of this age, JIM MASEY, is going to be shot at sunrise for flirting with Princess Gace. Zorro rushes to MARY COOPER'S famous Berserkist Circus on Erkus to be shot from the cannon to Monaco. Upon arriving in Monaco, Zorro convinces Prince Rain-Dear that with Jim, love is a sickness. Jim is pardoned but is banned from the country. Prince Rain-Dear invites Zorro to spend a few days in Monaco. Before dinner the Prince and Zorro go to his private billiard room where DENNIS CROWDER is recking balls. Roger Davenport (Liberate) Roxie Gray Arthur Klinghamner (Ginger Rogers and Fred Astaire) UNIOR-SENIOR PROM Prophecy After a game with General JACK TUCKER, t.ie P. E. instructor of the royal CH-LUMP- EX team, the dinner bell rings, and they go to dinner. GLENNETH SCHALL is slinging hash for the royal family. As guests for dinner, we find some of Argenta grads. We see Lady MARION TROXELL, who is the gov' rness for the royal children. SHARON NIXON, the chief librarian for the royal children's nursery rhymes is there. After dinner the Prince calls for his royal coach. As they board the coach, Zorro notices that the royal coachman is LARRY YETTER. When they arrive at the Royal Gym, Zorro notes that GARY LIKINS is the coach for the country's favorite team, the Walla Walla Swivel Hips. As the game progresses he sees that our own LOUISE FYKE is the cheerleader. In the last quarter, Gary is assured that victory is theirs, so he sends in the 9th string with JEFF McCONKEY as forward guard. After the game they proceed home where they are served a night cap by head maid, SANDRA CROWE. The next day Zorro is introduced to another alumna of Argenta High School, Gace's personal dress designer, NANCY ROSTEK. After tea Zorro boards the Prince's private jet plane. The stewardess is JUDY FULK. Some hours later they arrive in Hooeywood only to hear that another member of the class of '58 is in need of Zorro's services. It seems that the Paramont Lion has escaped and has MARCIA CONWAY cornered. Zorro dashes to the studio and with the sign of the 'Z' forces the lion to flee. ’ Zorro not only gets the thanks of Marcia but also of her employer, this centuries second Sinatra, JIM BOYD, to whom she is secretary. To show their appreciation they invite Zorro to take a tour of the movie lot. First they come to the Mystery Department where DAVID WAKEFIELD is trying for the role of Baby Face Nelson. After a chat with Dave, they proceed to the Glamoriz- ing Department where LU ELLA MAG LONE, the famous teacher of those come hither glances, is giving SHARON YETTER a lesson. After touring the lot Zorro decides to spend a night in the new California. He rents a room in Miss BONNIE FULK'S boarding house. She invites Zorro to come down to watch T. V. That evening as they are waiting for the program to start Miss Fulk tells Zorro the sad story of why she never married. At the conclusion of her tale the announcer says that It is time for the 64 Million Dollar Question. The first guest for the evening is STAN WILBER. His category is the U. S. Constitution and his expert this even- ing is Mr. Kimbler. But first a message from our sponsor Cash-mere Boo-K. Here is VELDA DICKERSON to tell you all about it. ’ After a wonderful evening being concluded with Stan winning the jackpot, Zorro calls Mr. Wilkey and Miss Parks and tells them that all is well and that he will return in a few days so they can send him back to the past. uniord JUNIOR CLASS G.
