X wJ if 2l'lLOI' ag The Sen1ors of the Arenzv1lle H1gh School presented November 17, 1950, before a l rge crowd he play The T1n Hero Seven g1rls and s1x boys part1c1pated d1s play1ng excellent talent under the gu1d1ng hand of Mrs Moon The scene opens 1n the house of Mrs Goodyear Jean Beets She 1S d1scuss1ng a letter rece1ved from her son Douglas Goodyear Mart1n Schlueter w1th Grace Goodyear, her daughter Pat Schn1tker Douglas has saved a French lady Melba Mason from drown1ng Mrs Goodyear 1m med1ately calls the local news reporter Rosal1e Roegge Douglas' mother exagger ates the story so much the lnterest of the Hero's Club 1S aroused Baxter Warner Edgar Ham 1S the pres1dent of the Hero s Club but he 1S constantly ordered about by h1s Wlfe Vera Roegge The h1lar1ous act1on 15 portrayed when Douglas returns from France surrounded by the news reporter and photographer John Schone He 1S honored by everyone as a hero and Mrs Warner de c1des to prove h1s hero1c act1ons by hav1ng h1m enter a sw1mm1ng race, compet1ng w1th the best sw1mmer of the country Dlck Fr1cke To the utter despa1r of Douglas he could not sw1m Durlng th1s catastrophe h1s sweetheart Mary Jones 1S verygealous Grace's boyfr1endfJack Hansme1er made lt hotter than ever for h1m by rnakmg un of h1s hero1sm To the arnazement of everyone espec1ally Adela1de Young Connle Love kamp and Joe Moore Dale Mullens Doug las w1ns the race The curta1n falls as Mrs Goodyear declares her son w1ll surely now be the pres1dent of the Hero's Club l,U'll0l' H those a.rnaz1ng people who seem to excell at everyth1ng they attempt He has been a star athlete actor and heaven knows what else at Kmgston H1gh and h1s great popular1ty has caused h1m to be elected sen1or class pres1dent unammously or almost unan1 mously H1s mother and father Sherry Peck and Norman West have been so 1mpressed by h1s hlgh chool career that Edd1e has radually become the boss of the Hopk1ns ome Nobody does anyth1ng w1thout con su1t1ng Edd1e H1s mother d1scusses new furn1sh1ngs w1th h1m h1s father doesn't use the car unless Edd1e won'tbe need1ng lt h1s S1SterF-lalrle Roseanne Ruppel hstens to h1s cr1t1c1sms of her s1ng1ng an of her boy fr1end, Harry Bla1ne Russel W11-gkel man Yes, everybody 1S11'1'1pI'eSSed except Barbara Flemlng Carolyn Peck She and Edd1e's ego made Barbara change her m1nd But Barbara w1th encouragement from her g1rl frlend Floss1e Allen QEBTIIHC Schone st1ll has hopes of Edd1e 's runn1ng 1nto the fall for wh1ch he's been headmg and the fall f1nall comes 1n away wh1chsurpr1ses her and a most floors Edd1e It has to do w1th some new ne1ghbors Mrs Reese lCharlene L1ppertj and her twenty one year old daugh ter named EUHICC Colleen Roegge who for reasons of her own dec1ded to take Edd1e up on some of h1s fast talk Eun1ce's boy fr1end Van M1ller Clyde McCloud plays a part 1n the s1tuat1on that follows Edd1e f1nds h1mself 1n a s1tuat1on out of wh1ch It 1S d1ff1cult to talk and at the end Wlth the help of the pol1ceman Max Zulauf everyth1ng seems to po1nt to a revo1ut1on 1n the Hopk1ns home and a reun1on between Barbara and Edd1e a , , t , ' . , . . . . . , I - K . - , cc. . 5. -, -2 ' , J.
