Homemaking Department In October we also sent delegates to a Section 7 meeting in Spring field Illinois November was ushered in by our official opening of our new home making department with F H A girls serving a tea from 3 to 5 in the afternoon of November Z to friends in this community We were given a dish towel shower that afternoon OnDecember 7 F H A served the Schoolmasters ofCass County at dinner 1n the Homemaking room and the day of our Christmas party at school the F H A girls served Christmas candy and COOk1eS they had made 1n classes Our chapter mother helped serve In January we gave a program to the Arenzville Woman s Club and to the Parent Teachers Association girls enjoyed and twice we have had F F A vs F H A basketball games with boys handicapped Both times the boys won The b1g event ofthe year was the Mother Daughter Banquet in February This was held 1n the Leg1onHall 1n town because our depart ment wasn t big enought to seat the girls and their mothers atadmner Red and white crepe paper was used for decoration and the center pieces on the tables were bouquets of red roses Each mother was given a red rose as she entered the banquet room The menus and the program were made in the form of roses on red construction paper and place cards were red teapots The program was all centered around the theme of honoring mothers and 83 mothers and daughters were present Red and white are the F H A colors and our emblem is the red rose Our club motto 1S Toward New Horizons 31 Twice during the year we had parties with the F.
