FIFSI Degree 'Ivxenty lixc ye tts tgo thc Honor Society consisted ot only one degree this correspond mg to our present Third Degree As the membership incrciscd the need arose for the further rewarding of unselhsh workers and honor students The need for a better character training system to give students in opportunity to think more closely mth their leaders and fellow students and to ht them eventually to be leaders themselves also became apparent Thus the First and Second Degrees were formed At the present time the First Degree includes members of less than live years standing Scholarship attendance and conduct are the key vuords for membership tn the First Degree It is possible to earn membership for the first time in the Thtrd grade Each member must give willingly one hour of service, beyond his regular duties to the school each year First Degree members have the privilege of attending the Annual First Degree Initiattons where for twenty hve consecutive years udge Walter G Seely has delivered inspiring talks filled with suggestions for character building First Degree members also enjoy the annual Honor Society picnic gnc 1 in their honor excry spring Second Degree Membership in the Second Degree norm tlly comes tbout the time of entr 1nce into the high school department Throughout the school ye tr the Second Degree members aid the Third Degree in carrying out the Honor Society program ind thus gradually assume they carry out their pledge of service while at the same time they try to achieve as high a scholastic standard as possible In the spring of each yeir the Second ind Third Degree meet and vote upon members of the Second Degree in order to select nominees for vacancies which may occur in the Third Degree From these nominees the qualified faculty and the Third Degree elect students vnorthy of one of the highest honors in our school membership in the Third Degree Third The Third Degree, consisting of ten or more mem bers constitutes the executive body of the Honor Society These students chosen for letdership and character with their adviser tilee charge of the var1 ous activities connected with the organization At the close of each year they recommend ny changes deemed desirable so that the Honor Society lives and grows with the needs of the school Life mem bership is conferred upon Third Degree members upon graduation Life members consider it a privilege to return at least once a yetr to encourage and help the rising generation Degree Throughout this twenty fifth year the Third De gree has attempted to give its best with Miss Helen G Robbie serving faithfully as adviser We decorated the high school hills for the Christmas holidays wtth xwreathes and posters and we sponsored a picnic for those stud nts xx ho lned up to the Honor Societys creed Our rrost important work however, has been that of training and initiating students to the higher rmles of the society so that vhen it is time for us to leaxe me will be able to transmit our school to those xx ho follovt better than it was transmitted to us 22 ' f. wh' V. vu K-A y .
