N EDITORIAL We in Ardsley are thankful that we have no particular youth problems such as we read about in the newspapers in other towns Our varied activities keep us busy and leave no time or desire for American custom about Ardsley s bemg dead but actually we are busy and happy most of the time with little opportunity to get mto real mischief School activities are of major interest especially athle tics Competition is keen and good sportsmanship is high The Stu dent Council IS kept busy with all its various drives to bring victory closer Chorus and orchestra are enjoyed by both the grades and the high school When school is out church groups offer an atmosphere of being united in worship Spiritual standards are upheld not through fear but through love and the desire to abide by the Golden Rule The desire for the companionship of our schoolmates lS reflected when you hear the juke box wailing m Pascone s and sense the gen eral air of being carefree and light hearted A strawberry soda or coke just hlts the spot after a dance or movie Because of the Chocolate Shop there is no need for a canteen to draw teen agers away from undesirable places And yet we would appreciate a teen age gather mg spot where we could drop in and play a game of ping pong or have a talk fest with our own gang when we haven t the price of a coke QPagmg any grown ups who would give us a hand and supervise such a gathering place'j The friendly spirit of the older people likewise contributes a great deal to the absence of any youth problems They respect our rights and prlvlleges and we in turn respect theirs They understand why we want a little time to enjoy ourselves and because they trust us we have confidence and can be trusted If we want to have a special spree we don t have far to go in New York or White Plams to see a movie or to roller skate dance or just shop They re just close enough to provide a happy release from the everyday routme We shall miss all these things when we graduate but they have formed the background of our tastes in our future lives For these simple things we are grateful we hope that those who follow us will not b come too sophisticated to enjoy them 25 fQ :g ssg as ' 'L n C QT s - V t R v L..
