IN MEMORIAM WILLIAM FUCHS Almighty God in his infinite wisdom took from our midst early in the school year William Fuchs, a faithful and valuable member of the Board of Education, a true friend of the students and teachers of Ardsley High School. The picture at the left with his two sons epitomizes his personal interest in the youth of this community, and his pride in craftsmanship and matters mechanicalg the back- ground of his zeal for the development of the Industrial Arts Department over the period of six years he served on the Board. William Fuchs was a man of boundless energy and dynamic enthusiasm. In Mr. Duke, he found a kindred spirit. Together they planned and implemented a metal working course to round out the offerings of the shop. ln spite of all war time difficulties, the machinery was secured and the new course was begun on schedule in Sep- tember l94l. To perpetuate the memory of his service, the Board of Education has given the name William Fuchs Memorial Shopl' to the Industrial Arts Department: and the Ardsley Lions Club has donated a memorial plaque for the names of students who, year by year, best exemplify his spirit.
