an-Qefuasxanwntwomwcmwawn-cnwcxwnwefunwaunveunwunwswunnwnxanqgngarwg W A A Under the guidance of our new gurls physlcal ID structor Mlss VITUIUIH Vaca the Women s Athletlc Asso clatlon of Ardsley Pllgll was founded last fall at a mass meetmv of the hugh school glrls who chose for their student leaders Lons Ann Banlster President Kay Baker Vlce presldent Amta Heller Secretary The hrst undertaking of the Board was the devls mg of a polnt system whereby all glrls who were truly mter Ps, ested mlght earn an award not only the star athletes as - prevlously ThlS system has thus far proven qulte satlsfac tory and seems to be lmprovlng with tlme The sport season was officially opened last fall by a hockey game at lrvmgton where our gnr s pent a very enjoyable afternoon as guests of the Irvington Hlgh School Physical Ed Department the hockey season faded out the girls turned their energles and mterests toward badmmton volleyball pmg pong and shuffle board Of the badminton group Elmor MacLeod proved to be the most skxllful capturmg the smgles champlonshlp She and Llly C-ubler subdued all OPPOSIIIOH ln the badmmton doubles tournament emerglng undefeated at the end of the season The King of pmg pong IS none other than Ex elyn Eaton and the wlnners of the shuffle board encounters are une Elsenhauer and ean Van Dusen Then came the most popular sport of all basketball Judging from the great number of the falrer sex who attended the practices even Kay Baker came out and she proved to be qulte asset to her team too' An extenslve mter class and mtra mural schedule was drawn up This pro vided a number of excltmg games for the student spectators Of the four mtra mural teams namely the Screwballs Musty Bears Puny Putrld Petunlas and the lgnats the PPPS conquered the banner and were honored wlth a game agamst the faculty This latter team was composed of star col lege athletes and starred Pop Brown as Raggedy Ann Chuck Horend as Mae West Wxld Bull Duke as Shirley Temple and Maestro Vmcent as Sally Rand fwoo' woo' But their clowmng dldn t fool u No slree They certainly had to put up a Hght against those Battllng Beauties Serlously this game provlded a great deal of wholesome amusement for a record audxence of pupils Thus ended a most successful basketball season To Kathleen Gorman went an A plus for the efflclent manner ln which she executed her duties as manager A vitally needed posture class was organized and recelved with great enthusiasm by an eager group of glrls who were anx ous to xmprove thelr h alth and appearance Hedy Szekely and A D Paoluccx 1111111iiiiiiinifixiiiiiiiiii 1 . . . . . .
