1111111111111111iiiiiiiiiii S E N l O R C L A S S We were Indeed problem freshmen' Not rn the sense usually assocrated wxth that term but we dad grve the Board of Educatxon a headache when the questxon arose What IS to be done wlth fifty freshmen and facllrtles for about thrrty five at the most3 But no hollday was declared for xt didnt take our worthy supenors long to find a solution By dlvldrng the class mto two sectlons the college and the business groups they solved this rather awkward sxtuatlon to the satlsfactlon of all Of course there sprang up between the two classes a friendly 3 rxvalry whxch served as an mspnratlon to spur each on to greater accompllshments Freshman and Sophomore years passed se renely enough since we were all busy trymg to attaln hxgher goals ln thls new world Hugh School and learning the best way to get rlch quick for the benefit of our Washington Trip Fund Finally m our umor year we were agam umted mto one bxg happy famlly collaboratlng on one of our biggest undertalungs the l940 Ardsleyan We express our gratxtude to everyone who as sxsted us wlth this undertaklng especxally Miss Clayton the umor advrser who was so very patient and helpful and wxthout whom llttle would have been accomplished Thus as another year flew by on the swlft wlngs of time we finally found ourselves full fledged envled SCDIOYS entltled to snub and dominate our lower classmates we tried m vaml We certainly were a class marked by the unusual ln selectmg our class president the ballots were so consistently equal that we had two able leaders lnstead of one Graham Bell and Louls Caporale Co presidents supported by Dorothy McHenry Vlce president Douglas lVlcK1rgan Secretary and Vlncent Of course our greatest endeavor of the year was our Senlor Play whlch was an hllanous come dy A number of weeks before Aprxl 4 a hxghly contagxous epxdemlc hut the town spreading lxke wlldfire untll there was not a soul rn town who wasn t suffering from Swing Fever But no sympathy was to be had from the Seniors for this resulted ln a considerable mcrease ln our Washington Trlp Fund But please dont mlsunderstand us' Although our mam object fbesldes passing hlstory to graduatelj was to accumulate suffxclent funds to enable us to nde to Washington ln style we were not quite so mercenary as one mlght conclude No Indeed' The Class of 41 was always outstanding ln athletics We managed to capture both the glrls and boys mter class basketball champlonshlps This year shlstory makmg Varslty Team consisted entirely of Semors to say nothing of our muslclans who were actxve orchestra band and chorus members Then too Seniors played promment parts m the Honor Soclety Thlrcl Degree soclals clubs forums debates and other extra currlcular aCtlVltlCS Smce we as Semors are leavrng our beloved Alma Mater forever we should like to express a word of appreclatlon to our prlncxpal and to all the members of the faculty who have been dlrectly or mdlrectly responslble for our success Thls year when we have often become a lnttle too eager perhaps over our play or our trlp nt has been the understandmg gundance of our class advrser Nlnss Buell whxch has saved us from dlsaster Then too the dxrectmg of the play has meant endless patxent coaching Need we say that we shall not soon forget all that has been done for us3 A D Paoluccx 41 1-mart-mmmmmxorwixwmmmwsmmwnlvdxvexwixxnvpmrmwnlucmwu . .. .. . , . . - , , . , , . f.
