YS BASKETBA The season of l939 40 opened on Nlovember 9 when D3 candidates answered the call of Coach Brown From this group a squad of nineteen was picked Elexen boys were car ned on the XZHTSHQ and eight on the unlor Varsity The season opened with Bedford l-lllls on December 8 Between December 8 and March 8 sixteen games were played As far as uctorxcs and defeats were concerned this proxed to be an unsuccessful season but still we believe that much credit should be given our boys for stxclclng toffether until the end Every one realized how hard it was to keep plufwing when victory was so hard to get The team tak s this opportunity to thank the students and memlsers of the commun ity for thelr loyal support durlnv the season Ex eryone is loolclnff to the next season for a complete reversal of form The junior Varsity team consisted of the following players Mike Spano Tom Geraszhty Ollver Brmlcerhofl Louis Caporale Larmme Palermo Edwin Wheeler Bob Reid Domi nick Funlla Thi! fY18l'la4 CI' of these boys WHS GTah8fU This team was one of the best unlor VaTSltlCS ID recent years They finished the season with thirteen victories and two defeats and captured the mythlcal Championship of the Greenburgh Leavue Team play cooperation and a driving sp1r1t were re ponsible for the r suc ess XNIllNf I ill ill S x usll 1Nu 1 s ll Hlllllll mls sh a B O L L - X Y . , ' U I ' Y - I Y V - . , ' .
