BOY SCOUTS September 28, 1038 found a large r up of Boy Scouts attendinv the first meeti and enthusiastically lookinv forward to a new year of scoutlnv At the first meeting three new patrols were formed, and the officers of the troop for this year are as follows Scoutmaster, Kenneth Brown, Junior Assistant S L , Gordon Schultz, Senior Patrol Leader, Ralph DeNike Blazing Arrow Patrol Patrol Leader, Robert Johnson, Assistant Patrol Leader, Paul Nelson Buffalo Patrol Patrol Leader, Charles Benedict, Assistant Patrol Leader, Theodore harquls 'Volf Patrol Patrol Leader, John Venners, Assistant Patrol Leader, Irwin Enuleman High spots in our year up to date are The Annual Father and Son Dinner at the Methodist Church at which five new boys were received into Scouting in an impressive investiture ceremony Second, The Court of Awards which vas held at Ardsley on March 14 Five scouts advanced to the rank of first class scout, and six merit badves were awarded members of the troop Swimming at Grasslands Pool has asain held the interest of several of our scouts, and they eagerly await each Friday for their plunre into the water The boys of Troop 3, as they reaffirm their pledfe by living up to the Scout Oath and Law , sincerely hope that their experiences in scouting will go a long way in helping them to become better citizens af! ,li v7-f io mlw W N-A 'Ink'-'I ls K -' Q sz F KL' iftnkyviy Xiiljfl ,aj A, at R 4 X L M C s ns I I L, pa - 7 - I' - - . 4. ' h 1 -:gf f CJRI3iES11lA The Ardsley High School Orchestra under the leadership of Fr Mitchell C Vincent has made excellent progress this ear It has become more a part of the school curriculum and has given us the opportunity to broaden our musical background and to develop a sense of appreciation for the better type of music Ne have played for a number of assemblies and have given an outside appearance The students' favorite selection seemed to be 'The Blue Danube by Richard Strauss In addition to this beautiful waltz, we learned to play marches, overtures, several symphonic arrangements, and other incidental music There are now 32 members in the orchestra The brass and wood wind section has increased, and the violins now total twelve For the first time in the history of the Ardsley Orchestra, the outstanding members have been honored by being presented with colorful emblems These emblems were earned by the combined efforts of the band and orchestra at s cake sale The orchestra will lose many of its players this year due to Senior graduation Among those replaced by new members will be the percussion section, slide trombone, violins, and bass viol es qv C .J Ocigglmmlan mllldgggiiigj 1 xx X MH I lp I fl if XIV!! -lt, 'N r Q - M . .
