N Editorials SERVIC h lnhere is no one quality in my mind th it has embodied itself in the ideal of the pupils of this school more than that of true seryice rendered for the general good of all without thought of personal recompense other than per haps the satisfaction of accomplishment Work has been made enjoyable by the common intimacy of team work Picking and shoveling becomes a recreation and muscle builder besides a means of clearing away obstacles for a ley el playground Floors have been waxed and small duties which might take much of a teacher s time if she had to do them all have been willingly undertaken by pupils There are few schools in which there exists such a feeling of intimacy and comradeship between teachers and pupils It has led to the students keen desire to learn for the surroundings around them are congenial and they feel that they may help make the co of this institution of learning run smoothly by making some small task his own The statement of our principal lVlr A W Silliman in one of his talks in chapel If you have some job to do around the school and are ashamed to do it fearing that It might appear too memal or embarassing ask me to have before U5 to LIYYC U5 on ln OUI' CI1dCaW OTS With this spirit of doing things for others pervadmg in our school it being molded unconsciously into the characters of many of us And it is this spirit that is needed so much in the world today as men and women who are truly great are those who are willing to serye humanity unselhshly WHAT A H S MEANS TO OLR COMMUNITY A school that represents true sportsmanship loyalty scholarship and all the higher ideals of the perfect school A school that is more than willing to earn its needs A school which will ba k all the projects of its teachers pupils and the smallest organization of the community Seven years ago a noble man came to Ardsley to work with the pupils here so that they might mean a good deal to their community An Honor Society was established which held the interest of the pupils from its birth to this day One of the unwritten laws of the society is the Colden Rule the law which has attracted the attention of many neighboring residents Honor and respect for others has come from the great law and it has mafle the pu pils of Ardsley High stand out in the mmds of our people as those who can be trusted to stand by the truth To the residents of our community Ardsley High is the home of honest clean cut upright boys and girls alvw ays ready to lend a helping hand always ready to do their best lffffl .llfIl.'l,l'.'l'.lX 11 help you do it,:' shows how wonderful a spirit of willingness and service we s g A A v . . . w . . . 9 .
