E l0R CLASS PRUPHECY Good evening! Welcome to another presentation of WAlfred Hitch- cock Presents'. Tonight, I wish to enlighten all of your hearts with another of my mirthful tales of sober suspense and beautiful bloodshed, which always occur in this ghastly game. As you know, there has always been one drawback which I have encountered during my attempts to enter- tain my audience, that rogue, my sponsor. Fortunately, he will no longer be able to be with us. He was suddenly overcome with a bad case of displeased viewers just before we went on the air. We have decided to use his remains as a prop in the show as a mark of respect. Should anyone fail to enjoy the show, please feel free to come to my Inter Sanctum after the show for a Wconferencen. I will now refrain from breathing into your faces and present the Meller Drammer, WLife in Las Vegas--With Death?W I shall not be present after the show for I must catch a train. Where? To Las Vegas, of course! As the scene opens, the High School Class of '57 from Arcola, Ill- inois is having a class reunion at the Golden Nugget Casino in Las Ve- gas, Nevada. The time is the summer of 1977. A huge crowd has gath- ered at the various gambling devices. The operator of the roulette wheel is none other than Jerry 'Log' Thompson. Jerry seems to be very successful in the gambling business, he tried the aerial spraying busi- ness but had to give it up because the Spark Knock Special gasoline that Roy Ashley sold him couldn't get the plane off the ground. Roy gave up the gas station to become the pay teller here at the casino. Monte Stump is dealer at the poker tables. He finally learned how to play cards after four Wlean' years at school. 'Cat Man' Cox is chief mechanic for the countless slot machines. 'Cat' has used his mechani- cal knowledge to set the machines so that the customer never loses. The casino loses money that way but Tom likes for things to run effi- ciently. Jack Browning, Bob Curry, Lloyd Little, and Dave Uphoff are running a hot dice game in the corner. 'Black Jackn, Lloyd, and 'Cob- bie Bohn are now famous professional hoods from Chicago, but Dave is a successful farmer turned gambler for the night. As the stage curtain opens, Pat Harris Young and Joan Sanders swing across the floor in their familiar dance routine originated at the Arcola Sweet Shop. They have on beautiful ballerina costumes for their number. Ruth Ann Keal is the big hit of the show, she sings opera while playing the flute. Peggy Phillips makes a good living as cigarette girl specializing in snuff. Janet Smart works in the Casino also, she is the strong armed bouncer of the Golden Nugget. Among the group of enthused gamblers are Donna Rae Wood, Virginia Connor, and Harriet Miller. Donna Rae, who is quite a cackler anyway, is running a poultry farm in Lower Sloblovia. Virginia feeds and waters the chickens and Harriet is in charge of the sales department. The smoke clears as 'Married Mann Myron Shonkwiler rushes in. He keeps shouting to the world, 'I'm the son of a seven pound fatheri' As Joe Gaylord slips through the door, a shot rings out, barely missing him. Chief Marshal Charles Moler and his policewomen assistants, Shir- ley Carlberg and Marjorie Chumbley seize the would-be killer. It turns out to be Pat Cox. She cries out, 'I don't care what happens, Gaylord you will never find out my freckle remover formula.' The Honorable William Perkins bursts through the swinging doors to bring order. Being the judge, he demands that the case of Joe Gaylord versus Pat Cox be tried at once in the casino. Stan Allen, M. D., and his nurse, Betty Laley, check the condition of the victim and find that he is in perfect shape except for a black eye. The court clerk, Tim Monahan calls for order in the court and swears in the first witness, Tom Romine. The plaintiff's lawyer, 'Con- vict 'emn Dave Herrington, starts the questioning. After a thorough
