SE l0R CLASS HISTDRY In the fall of 1953, the fifty-eight members of our freshman class entered the Arcola High School. At our first class meeting we elected Audrey Landreth, president, Billy Perkins, vice-president, Joan Sanders, treasurer, and Brenda Biggs, secretary. Mr. Soelzer and Miss Olson were our class sponsors. At Homecoming time, we elected our class presi- dent, Audrey Landreth, as the queen's attendant. Her escort was Tim Monahan. Before the year ended our class had grown to sixty members. Fifty-eight silly sophmores crossed the threshold in l95h. As class officers, we elected Larry Anderson, presi- dent, Bill Perkins, vice-president, and Janet Smart, secre- tary-treasurer. Our class advisors were Mr. Dunn and Mrs. Shields. At Homecoming we elected Brenda Biggs as our queen's attendant. She chose Bill Perkins as her escort. Although we did not win a prize with our float, WWe'll Pin Them Down,W we all had fun. As our sophmore year drew to a close, everyone was looking forward to becoming an upper- classman. We began the year of '55 with fifty-six members in the class. Our officers were Dave Herrington, president, Dave Upholf, vice-president, and Brenda Biggs, secretary-treas- urer. Mr. Crist and Mrs. Willmann were our class advisors. For queen's attendant at Homecoming we chose Peggy Phillips, escorted by Tom Romine. Our class play WGirl Crazy' was a huge success due to the fine directing of Miss Whitson. The Junior-Senior Prom was held at the Kaskaskia Country Club. It was a lot of work, but one of the most outstanding events of our junior year. Only forty-eight seniors managed to Sneak back to classes in the fall of 1956. As our class officers we elected Joe Gaylord, president, Jack Browning, vice-presi- dent, Diane Myers, treasurer, and Brenda Biggs, secretary. Our class sponsors were Mr. Dunn and Miss Jokisch. Peggy Phillips was Homecoming Queen and Pat Cox was her senior attendant. The girls' escorts were the two senior co-cap- tains of the football team, Dave Herrington and Dave Upholf. The play, NGuess Againn was lots of fun, but we couldn't help looking forward to the juniors wonderful send off--the Junior Senior Prom. The highlight of our high school car- eer was the trip to Washington D. C. and--at last--our grad- uation day. When we started our senior year, there were forty-eight members, but only thirty-eight remained to grad- uate. We had a big four years at A.T.H.S.--we'll never for- get these wonderful memories.
