Anoola School The Lake Township School in Arcola is one of many of Ind- -iana's consolidated schools... It has a continuous commission and is attended by students of grades one through twelve. Six buses bring students from Lake, Aboite, and Washirgton Townships. ; The school and community are proud of the farm shop, the cafeteria, and the other things that go to make up the school that is called our school by three hundred and five boys and girls. Architect M. S. Mahurin drew up the plans for Arcola's School. Contractors Bueshing and Haggerman followed. them through, and thus the main building of the school was erected in 1921. -In 1926 the gymnasium was added, with C. R. Weatherhogg as architect and M, P. Hodges as contractor. At the beginning of the. first school year in 1922 there were three teachers on the high school faculty, including Prin- cipal R. M. Brooking. There were three grade school teachers. That number has increased to eight for the high school and four for the grades. In the first year of the new school, there were only one hundred and twenty students. Forty were in high ‘school ard eighty were in the grades. This was a small beginning, and at different veriods the enrollmert decreased; however, there has been over the past twenty years a marked increase, for the presert enrollment to- tals three hundred ard five. The school is orgarized on .the six-six plan at the present, with ore hundred and seventy-seven in the upper six grades and on hundred and twenty-eight in the lower six grades. -
