Class History serve as many traditions as possilule lor Arcllmere we continue tlie practice ol tlme preceding classes lmy securing our graduation rings in our .lunior Year. Tllftj' are lmeautilul rings ol yellow gold surmounted lay a rulmy stone. Were we satislied witli tlxis acllieve- ment alone? lndeed no. Acting upon Fatlxer Hurley's sugges- tion antl using liim as our mediator and representative. we puslied tlie matter ol malcing our rings standard at our Alma lxlater. Finally success crowned our plans-tlte Faculty agreed. Vvitllout lmoasting we may credit one major part ol tlle growing Arcll- merian traditions to our account. Tlme Junior Prom held on lwlay IS was a very great success lmotlt socially and linancially. It was deemed lay all as one ol tlme lnest, if not actually tl1e laest dance ol' tlme year. The proceeds were used lor tlte preparation ol a larewell lmrealclast lor tht- graduating Seniors in June. Our Junior year saw lwlr. Leonard Farmer succeed lVlr. Con- nell as coacla. wlmo lelt to attend personal lmusiness matters. rl-lie same dependable cooperation was sltown Coacll Farmer lmy our class as was previously displayed. Sports claim tlwe interests of tlme entire class, and as a result we placed many delegates on tlle lootlaall, lmaslcetlzall, bowling, and baselmall comluines. .luniors even llad two classmates on tlle newly organized tennis team ol lour men. ln dramatics we claimed tlme leading role ol tlle tllree act comedy, Handy Andy, lor our class. Besides .lames Sll9il several otlier graduates ol '57 were included in tlle cast. Numerous otlmer events on tlle scliool-day calendar seemed to lmurry tlme passing days. Soon June and tlxe graduation ol tlle '50 class terminated our l'1igl1 scllool days as Juniors. Responsilmility and llard worlc boomed lor our Senior Year. Tllis seemed to intone tlle general note ol our last nine montlis at Arclnnere. Nevertheless, our spirit ol cooperation and distri- lmution ol tlie worlc conquered tlie lmeretolore insurmountalmle olmstacles. Extra curricular activities claimed so great a per- centage ol our time tlmat to retain tlie lligli scliolastic standing ol tlle class mucli diligence llad to be slmown in studies. Atliletic interest continued to run high and was augmented lmy tl1e two new tennis courts built at tlle side entrance. Senior-sponsored social events were not lacking: ol course. all otl1er Arclwmere social llappenings were always Seni0r-sup- ported. Tlme Valedictoriarfs voice sounds tlme lcnell ol our days under tlle capalxle Norbertine priests at Arclimere. Tlmougll tlle actual days lme over, lond rememlnrances linger. Our everlasting grati- tude to all responsilyle lor tlie numerous lnenelits we llave reaped during our years at Arclamere. lnmes Collins, '51 24
