Class isfcory T seems only yesterday-that ideally lneautilvul Autumn morn- ing on which the memluers of Archmere's Freshman Class ol' IQ35 first assembled. Yes, Septemher 20th was the exact date of the actual heginning of classes. Thus was inaugurated the high school course under the white-rolaed Premonstratensian Fathers for the sixteen visihly awed and impressed young laoys, most ol' whom were in lcnee-lareeches. However, as this sense of strangeness and unfamiliarity wore off with the passing days we Archmerian tleclglings manifested a leeen interest in hotli scholastic and extra-curricular activities. Throughout the year, lmesides maintaining a consistent honor roll group, our young class of ,jf under Coach .lohn Oakes placed six members on the lootlaall squad: lour were among AFl'llmCf6'S initial hand of courtmen and six made the grade of the laaselzall team. Classes were speedily organized and we Sophs discovered, much to our dismay, that studies had grown more difficult and would require quite a hit more study. Responding to this chal- lenge our class as a whole more than sulndued Old lxlan Failure lJy climbing up the Honor Roll ladder and maintaining several representatives on the top throughout the year. The class of '57 functioned as a unit lor the first time outside of scholastic circles, and had two important events to its credit during this second year at Arcllmere. Primarily, moleslcin iaclcets in the class colors. red and white, and hearing the numerals '57 were purchased. Secondly, all of us Sophs with Father lxlc- Keough, our adviser and headmaster, enjoyed a trip to the National Capitol. Vylhen our predecessors, the Charter Class ol' Archmere. came into their own in the role of Seniors, we .luniors first realized how last utempus was fugitingf' Soon we would lJe cast in the same roles as these graduates. The sands of time were certainly slip- ping away fast-too last. With Father Hurley as our adviser and sensing our positions as upper classmen, we went immediately to worlc. To help pre- 23
