Breaks Lunches . .. ... times to finish homework, cram for tests, and catch up on missed gossip. The recess lunch bells ring; teachers with the choice classrooms are literally run out of their rooms as students look for a suitable congregating place, with plenty of room for roughhousing or just sitting •around. The library is the favored place of the high school students and junior high has claimed the science room. This Old Town I was born here in this old town with it’s old oaks, cedars, and pines stretching to the sky as if looking for an escape from the dull hum-drum-drumming of the old ladies in their green polyesters on the front steps of the Presbyterian Church, the boats with their in and out routines, teenagers “cutting the Vill”, and then to “Town” for whatever reasons and then “cutting the Vill”, the silly squabble of children under the great oak, the Deer Head”, that has seen gen- erations of villagers come and go, seen them born, to school, then off to the world, and then seen them return home, seen them married, seen even their first child through their last grand child and maybe even great grandchildren and here I am in a cycle spinning like a boat’s wheel, but this wheel never stops, just spins slowly, very slowly, adapting to the ways of new comers and adapting new comers to the ways of the Village.
