FATHOM 1981 Volume Three Archibald Rutledge Academy McClellanville, S.C. For their generosity at our beginning, for their hard work and encouragement during our time of building and growth, for their belief in our future and for their dedication to us, we the Annual Staff dedicate this edi- tion of The Fathom to Law- rence Palmer McClellan and Henrietta Gardner McClellan. 2 With the salt marsh in my blood, And the sea-wind in my heart, With live-oaks and magnolias Of all my life a part. To Mrs. Claudia, I leave the hope of having one quiet French class. To Martha, I leave my ability to be home at 3:00 so that she will not miss General Hospital. To Dottie, I leave the hope that someday she will have long straight hair. To Glenn, I leave three (maybe more) wild years at ARA. To Nancy and Mary, I leave the ability to stay out of trouble during a whole class. To Gary, “my favorite person”, I leave the hope that one day he may be locked in the canteen. To the Sophomore class, I leave the hope that someday they can have a great study hall like we did last year. 6 Seniors Marian Hoyt Marian being of sound mind and (someday) skinny body, hereby leave to the following: To Bet Bridges, I leave my “I hate Billy Joel” T-shirt, the memory of our triple-date which will never be forgotten by either of us, and a copy of the Runner’s Handbook. To Julie and Dottie, I leave my crazy dieting techniques which never seemed to do me much good. To Martha, I leave a set of portable stairs that she can carry everywhere with her, and a pair of boxing gloves to use on Jimmy Grassey when she gets mad at him. To Jamie Dawsey, I leave my interest and talent in Physics. Last, but not least, I leave Glen Racine the ability to pick on people and the herd of meece (plural of moose) which inhabit my back yard. 7 Seniors I Willie Thomas, being of sound and solid body hereby leave the following to my friends: To Chip, I leave the hope that he may someday get a boat that does not leak. To Scotty, I leave my muscles so he can beat up Gary. To Jamie Dawsey, I leave my highly educated brain. To “T”, I leave my ability to talk in history class. To Bet, I leave my driver’s license since she never can get hers. To “Mot” (Martha), I leave a Datsun 280ZX (GL) that I’ll buy when I get rich and someone to get into trouble with in first period history. To Gary, I leave the hope that he may one day own a great “Chevrolet” instead of a redneck Ford!
