1939 CLASS HISTORY 1952 In the fall of 1939 the primary room at Archer was rampaged by eleven newcomers who were about to begin an educational journey. Their engineer, who met them at the station, was Miss Obele Know Mrs, Joe Harmsl, who guided them until the first mile of the journey was completed. 'The passengers were: Norma 'EgdorQ, Rosemary Skipper, Frances Noteboom, Arlin Harms, Edith Dykstra, Arlene Nieuwenhuis, Marlys Idso, Carlyle Johnson, Richard Evenson, Benny Rohwer, and Marlene Idso. After learning the essential elements of know- ledge needed for a trip such as this we made our first stop and were greeted by our new conductor, Miss Rich- ardson. The same passengers boarded and during this next year we gained two new travelling companions, who were Sadie Te Paske and Marlys Koepnick, coming from a country school. In March of 'Ml Rosemary Skipper left us for another station. Our taxicab driver meeting us at the succeeding station to make us acquainted with our new locality, was Miss Den Hartog. As we turned the corner and saw the sign and and 3rd grade, we realized that the are mile of the journey had begun.' Under the patient supervision of Miss Den Hartog we explored new fields of readin', 'ritin', and 'rithmetic. During the course of this mile another passenger, Norma Egdorf, left and the the travellers still numbered ll, Mass Den phase of the start of Hartog stayed with us the next year, this journey taking us through 3rd grade. At the year new acquaintances were made. The Vanden Brink sisters,4 Elma and Faye, bought tic- kets for this fourth mile, increasing'Muano. of pass- engers to 134 Extra-curricular activity for the year for some students was chicken-pox. Evidently Frances Noteboom had had enough for she left us near the end of the year. Once again the settin is changed and we advanced to the nextncarn labeled with and Sth Graden. There, at the door, to greet us, was Mrs. Williams. There was our was and quite a bit of excitement for us this year. Among activities there was aprogram for the mothers.
