Grease Day . . close encounters, in the halls, on the front steps, and in the snow parties clowning. and other electritying experiences helped make Archer City a lively place In 1979. Homecoming is always a time of great excitement. Old friends see each other for the first time in years, the football team and the band perform for the alumni, and the homecoming nominees look at each other and wonder which one of them will be the lucky one. This year, members of the Queen’s Court were Kelly Posey, Doris McGregor, and Lori Stubbs. Mary Beth Gage was crowned Homecoming Queen as the band played ‘‘The Way We Were, and the Wildcats went on to rout Chico’s Dragons 30-0. It's a time tor ending and beginning for most seniors. With high school days coming to an end, we must now think of what’s ahead. Seniors take a giant step toward being on their own Memories of the good times and good triends ot ACHS, though, will always be treasured in the backs of our minds Students do take time to enjoy themselves . . . even in striped pajamas! A lot of hard work went into the Halloween Carnival this year, and it was one of the most successful ever held. Over two thousand dollars was contributed to the senior class for their trip. The townspeople thoroughly enjoyed themselves by trying their luck at the football throw, laughing at the crazies in the style show and the talent show (a take-off on Hee Haw), and being scared out of their wits by the juniors in their haunted house. Dick Fletcher and Caren Nelson were crowned Carnival King Obtaining a good education is the main purpose ot school. Learning to cook, sew, paint, build something, or just paying attention to what a teacher says; it’s all part of the way students achieve the highest education possible. Sports are an integral part of student life at ACHS, and involve nearly everyone. Whether you participate in football, basketball, track, tennis, or golf, you know you can count on the rest of the student body to support your efforts, win or lose. 17 Junior Senior Banquet Celebrating the Beginning of a new era for the Seniors, yet knowing that their absence at ACHS will make us sad. ‘‘Looks Like We Made It was the theme of this year’s banquet. The seniors read the Will and The Prophecy. 18 Administration Administration AdministrationAdmi Board Directs School Year Donald Shearmire Superintendent Dorothy Brock Secretary School Board Members, standing: Max Green: Cecil Fletcher; Willie Willeford; Carter McGregor III; Donald Shearmire, Superintendent; seated: Robert Russell, Secretary; Arch Andrews, President; John Bell, Vice-Presi- dent. 22 23 High School Faculty Bobby Blackburn, Science and Fundamentals of Math Nancy Cage, English and Speech 24 Linda Gray, Science and American History Fred McCown, Shop, Mechanical Drawing, and Girl’s Basketball Bobby Ray, American History, Health, and Boy’s Athletics Deanna Smallwood, Commercial Arts and Journalism 26 Mary Lynn Beall, Fifth Grade Danny Clack, History and Boys’ Athletics Dean Fisher, Science Joanna Gellner, Resource Teacher Ronnie Karcher, Science and Boys’ Athletics Georgia Owen, Fifth Grade 27 28 29 Lee Ann Ashton, 3rd Grade Patsy Barton, 1 st Grade Gail Bush, Resource Linda Coers Resource Vicki Crow, Resource Debbie Crutcher, 1 st Grade LeeAnn Harris, Kindergarten 30 Semites Favorites Favorites Favorites Favorites Favorites me .ifllfllffir..........«« Mr. and Miss ACHS Will Andrews Will Andrews, valedictorian of his class, has been an outstanding student during his high school years.
