4.4 Rolling back the curtain of the future, I will look to see if l can find the graduates of the senior class of '55, aridl will relay their destination in later years to you. Ah! Thirty, forty years hence Isee a rich man--a banker--riding in his airplane, counting Ollt his money--wearing his diamonds--whose are they? His name? O yes, Isee now--Monte. Ah, the dainty lady of society, envied and flattered by all, the queen of every gathering, the belle of every ball-- Peggy Pollock. A woman of strong mind, strong will, and stronger temper! A lecturer on a strong subject--an old maid demonstrat- ing her independence of man. Her name escapes me--wait--oh, yes! It is Catherine Schenk. A strong breeze and a whiff of far, far prairies. A girl of the plains--a pioneer of distant wildness and vastness-- riding bareback over the broad spaces. Myrtle Frerich. A school of leaming and a noble professor before his class. They look at him in reverence for the vast learning he acquired in Archer City High School. Why, what is that they call him as they bow in homage before him? Professor Jerry Martin. Hear the newsboy running down the street! What does he say? Listen!!! Extra! Extra! All about the big battle! American forces led to victory by the gallant soldier hero of the hour--General Alben l-lilbers. Now I see an immense billboard, and what does it say? A second Helen Traubel, greatest opera singer of the day! Bobbie Glennl I A large building. Why, it is a convent. A fair lady, disappointed in some love affair, has become a nun and devotes her life to going about doing good to all the world. Her name is lost now, for she is called Sister Maria, but I see her face. and She was once Pat Williams. This I see--two happy wives making sunshine and music within their walls. Isee them exchanging confidences over the fence, as to this or that domestic difficulty, or culinary or matemal triumph--Glenda and Patsy. On the gleaming clean tables of a huge laboratory Isee the reflection of two images--Professors Billy Linscott and Herby Neas huddled over a microscope trying to trace the source of light. lf their theory proves correct, they will be the first manufacturers of canned light. An Art gallery, a huge crowd--modernistic pictures captivating the crowd. The modem art society is exhibiting the exotic paintings of David Nobles. Hear that applause? Howard and Clyde Loudamy have just concluded their twin piano concert in Carnegie Hall and the critics and audience will have something to talk ab0LIt for years. The music was beyond comparison. I see orange blossoms and hear birds singing. What a pretty April day for a wedding. Now the wedding march is starting. Doesn't Donna look lovely in her dainty dress of satin and lace. Wait! He looks familiar. Why it is Reverend Bob Cole conducting the ceremony. Doesn't he look dignified in his black suit? A glistening skyscraper, the twentieth floor. In the public accountant's modern office, reclining in his cushioned chair, is Billy Joe. Smell the delicious aroma? See the tasty dishes? And, to top it all, under the chef 's cap we see George, world .renowned caterer. A blur passes my eyes as l look at the snow on the mountains surrounding a famous resort. Here it comes again. Why, it is Bill Crawford, champion skiier, practicing for the Olympics! In the gymnasium of a new YWCA building, I see a class of fencers practicing the att of fencing. They spring into action as their coach, Tissa Roberts, say touche. Adjacent to this building is another of the same structure with the letters YMCA over the entrance, and inside Jimmy Peirce is head of the athletic department. Now Isee a busy highway--a service station along the way. As a car pulls up. the owner, Bobby McGriff, steps from inside and offers the fast and efficient service that has made him popular with the motorists in that section. A protractor, compass, and a cluttered drawing board. The clock is striking 3:00 AM and Pat Knox is hard at work trying to meet the demand for his architectural designs. Now I hear music! The trumpet is playing giddily with high C. Now he wavers into a haunting melody. joe sets the mood for the vocalist with his popular rendition of a Blues. Now coming to the microphone is something the audience has been looking forward to--Cissy Sullivan. She steps to the microphone and releases the lyrics in a spellbinding manner. Rows and rows of books--a quiet hush--the librarian, Alberta, sitting at her desk going over the endless list of authors and books. She maintains a relaxing and pleasant atmosphere at all times. Now my eyes center on the royal palace of England where Barbara Ferrell has been selected to be a companion as lady in waiting to the princess. The court should be proud to have her in their midst. A television studio--an enthusiastic audience of bobby-soxers. In a moment will begin Jimmy Slack's newest advancement in the entertainment world. He has already won awards in motion picture and radio, as well as the admira- tion of the feminine world. ,411 i 5
