MRS. MILDRED BERNATH DEDICATION MRS. DOROTHY SPENGLER Mrs. Bernath has taught in Archbold for the last thirty- five years after teaching for one year at the Lorentz school in Franklin Township. While at Archbold, she has taught over 1100 kindergarten and first grade children. Mrs. Dorothy Spengler has been at Archbold for the last twenty- one years after teaching two years at a country school in Ridgeville Township, one year in Cleveland, three years in Ridgeville Corners, and four years at Elmira. The tenure and long list of i.accomplishments is not the reason for which we dedicate this book to these people. Rather, we dedicate this book to the realization these people have of the importance of education to young people, and that to meet this goal the school must always be aware of our changing world and improved educational techniques. The wise leadership which these people have contributed to the school should not soon be forgotten. 3

The dedication of the yearbook is probably the single most important decision with which the year- book staff is confronted. The last Bluestreak which was dedicated was published over ten years ago. It was dedicated to outstanding individuals who have made important contributions to Archbold High School. We feel this is the criteria for the dedica- tion. In the past year, three members of the Board of Education and two teachers have resigned. The Board members which include Dr. William Neal, Mr. Paul Rupp, and Mrs. Arvah Siegel have served since the mid 1950's. The two retiring teachers are Mrs. Mildred Bernath and Mrs. Dorothy Spengler. Each of the retired Board members has contrib- uted particular improvements to the school. Col- lectively, they have accomplished an addition to the school building, a summer school program, and an enlargement of the curriculum, to mention only a few. DR. WILLIAM NEAL 2 MRS. ARVAH SIEGEL

SUPERINTENDENT MR. J. H. SPENGLER Mr. Spengler has been associated with Archbold High School for twenty-nine years, and has been superintendent for eighteen of those years. Students who do not know Mr. Speng- ler personally should recognize him as the man behind the voice on the announcements. The superintendent is the business manager of the school. His responsi- bilities include ordering all books and supplies for the entire year, keeping the school properly staffed, organizing summer school activities, and handling any expenses which accumulate over the year. Mr. Spengler has also been active in educational organizations outside Arch- bold. He has been Vice-President and President of the Northwestern Ohio Edu- cator's Association. One of Mr. Spengler's favorite re- sponsibilities is attending the National Science Fair every spring. Rubinoff and admirer
