They touch every phase of the thought of his time and constitute an imposing compendium of Greek learning and culture. Here was a philosopher who wrote for the man in the street, in languge he could understand, and in a form as lively and compelling as the gusty bouts of conversation which were a daily occurrence on the streets of Athens.
