Rummel competed this year in the new Jefferson Parish Academic Games League, which was formed last May from a part ofthe old Greater New Orleans League. The moderator of this activity was Mr. Frank Moore. Six Games were played in the league, two from each area of math lOn-Sets and Equationsl, social studies lMr. President and Ameri- Euro-Cardl, and Language Arts lLinguishtik and Propagandal. Rummel teams won a parish championship in five of these games. Rummel qualified eleven students for the National Olympics, held in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. This is the largest number of qualifiers of any school in the parish. These eleven boys U. Lacour, R. Doskey, M. Netzhammer, B. Hulin, J. Jeffers, J. Benson, G. Lester, T. Trainor, D. Fouchi, R. Schroeder, R. Gonzalezl gave Rummel its best showing ever at the Olympics. Academic Games ...X .. '

Big Brothers With a new system, started by Brother John Fairfax and Mr. Ralph Navarro, the Big Brother Organization aimed at working more with their little brothers - the Freshmen. By holding a series of retreats over the summer the Big Brothers were able to reach all ninth graders and introduce Rummel to them. Also stressed was that each person is a part of the Rummel Community. Working throughout the year, Big Brothers pushed involvement, spirit, and participation among the underclassmen.
