The Art Department at Kennedy includes far more than pencil sketchings. It includes painting, ink drawing, pastels, and mechanical drawing. 25

Will the real adult please stand up? (above) To anyone outside the school who is reading this book, these are the kinds of people formulating our opinions and teaching us our ideals. Help! (top right) By the time you get to be a senior, and you think you've had about all the IPS, biology, and chemistry that any one human can take—they invent physics! These students seem a little puzzled over an inelastic collision lab. The table of students: Sue Vandergrift, Trish Braun, Jerry Levinsky, and David Leflar are convinced that Sister Mary Joseph made the whole thing up. Religion class in senior year is Faith and Marriage (middle right). This class hopes to show its students what expectations to have concerning God, religion, relationships, and marriage. Freshman see a movie in Introductory Physical Science. Movies are always welcome by students since they provide ample opportunity to fall asleep in class. 24

(right) Algebra can be a difficult subject to learn—and to teach. Mr. Shaum gives it his best shot in Kennedy. (below) English classes take students from British literature to American Nobel prize authors to short stories. Miss Ciociola is working on basic grammar with her freshman class. Art can be enjoyable, but it also can launch a student into a career. By the time an art student reaches his senior year, the emphasis switches from having fun to preparing a portfolio—not to imply that the two can't be done at one time. Beowulf may be considered dreadful in some circles, but this English class seems to be having fun. (bottom right) 26
