(top) All freshmen have to take Algebra—whether they like It or not— more often not. But, for those who do like it, Kennedy offers a course of study in math ranging from Algebra to Trigonometry, from Geometry to Calculus. Most healthy students have an aversion to math, and it doesn't make these students any happier to know that... . . . science can be fun, as Shawn McGinley finds out (top right). The basic ingredients to success in chem lab are: knowledge, skill, goggles, and a good plastic apron —but more than anything: sheer luck. One of the things that makes Archbishop Kennedy different from P.W. or Wissahickon is its religion classes (above). Kennedy gives each student four years of religion classes. Some of these classes merely hand students the facts and history, other classes suggest ways of answering the questions of life we are bound to come across in the future. 22

It's an ugly thought to deal with, but yes, freshmen are required to take Latin, not to worry, however. Sister Judith (top left) can make even the deadest language alive again. After a base year in Latin, students can opt for more Latin, Spanish, or French. When seniors look back on freshman year, one of the fondest memories they have are of Mr. T's class (top right). Mr. Tomlinson not only teaches with a World Cultures book, he teaches through stories, jokes, and himself as an example. Several students take courses in business to help prepare them for the job market right out of high school. Kennedy offers typing, stenography, office practices, and accounting to those who want a head start in the business world. The students pictured here are (left to right) Carolyn McFadden, Anne liansberry, Lori Wolfrom, and Sharon Pierce. 23
