On Friday, January 25, five girls were escorted by members of the varsity basketball team through a crowded gymnasium full of spirited fans, anxiously awaiting the battle between the A.V. Tigers and the Valle of Ste. Gen. Warriors. The five candidates: Melanie Brooks, Candy Faulkner, Britta Martin, Lee Quelch, and Jill Schroer, were preceded by Laura Arnold, the retiring queen. The ceremony was concluded when Jill Schroer was crowned 1985 Homecoming Queen. Following the exciting win by the Tigers was a dance as successful as the game itself.
